RE: Cool usernames
I'd prefer to have something similar to an account name added to the character name. this would mean there are no name reservations as the account name would be unique (and could be hidden on the screen but any chat/pm/trade/etc would use the account name).
Blizzard uses a battle tag, Discord uses a tag (#xxxx) at the end of the name, it at least gives 10,000 users the same name.

Have you ever played a game where there was nothing in loot drops but resources? I have and it is extremely boring to hunt. So much to the point you don't even want to go hunt. What is the point of combat in a pve area if you have no loot to look forward to when you kill stuff? What would even be the point of raising your combat skills if you live in pve land? Everyone goes out to kill things for the possibility of what will drop as treasure. That's the thrill that keeps you going for hours on end. So you are suggesting we camp a spawn entirely for some special resource that may drop so you can maybe craft something with it? I like special loot dropping even if it is purely cosmetic decorative items for your house or special blueprints that let you craft one item.
I have to admit that before this comment i had completely forgotten about Eve Online and the drone npcs. they only drop resources and it's a place that is mostly avoided because no combat focused player wants resources. The game has ranked/tiered gear so getting better gear is acquired via drops.
After posting this I came across the Monster Hunter series knockoff, a MH lite called Dauntless. it's only resource drop based. it isn't bad but you dont lose gear either. the MH series seems to be pretty popular, within that niche, so it's possible to offer a game mechanic where only resources drop from mobs.

RE: Unique mounts
you'd have to get a mount in the new area assuming your first mount makes it there.

Are people hoping to do everything on one character?
they always hope for it.
i'd prefer there be actual crafting characters but i know that wont happen.

RE: What to Expect during Alpha 2?
bugs, things not working as intended, bears killing you in 1 hit. posting on the Alpha forums. not able to crafting weapons or arrows.
it's alpha so expect things to not exist nor work correctly.

RE: Real Crafting
there's a rat king which uses magic to control rats, the lowest of beast. these creatures are able to scavenge the lands undetected. though the magic of the rat king they're able to carry large items in their stomachs as though they're just grains of sand. kill the rats undoes the magic thus allowing some items to revert to their original size.
really, just have some creativity and magic can solve all your problems!

RE: how is it going to be the PVP?
theres over 17 post asking about Albion Online and Fractured, i highly suggest you read them.
hit the NEWS section on the main site too.
there are language specific forums here too if english isn't your best language!

RE: Unique mounts
maybe we could chose your mount based on your location. i doubt you'd take a tropical mount into the desert! you wouldn't take a desert mount into harsh winter climate.
then it allow DS to introduce some client specific breeds. elephant species 1 in desert/plains area, while another species could be for tropical. horses could be the same.

RE: Int, is the most important crafting stat!
it could be 4 stats, something most games dont do.
although, i'd like to see a system where stats dont matter and it's just materials. then stats could dictate material cost but then it's right back to min-max stats to lower the cost.
i'm really liking my idea of attributes increasing over time. it prevents front loading the character and it make playing long term viable.

RE: First impression of possible best builds - Race/God/Alignment?
Race: any Demon
Stat: ??
God: there's only Babilis! -
RE: Int, is the most important crafting stat!
i can tell you that people will min-max and 'best builds' will develop and it's horrible game design to put crafting under 1 primary attribute. I dont need to play the game or even test it.
not to mention that spells will probably use int as an attribute too so that would mean the best crafters and ranged characters are ind based.. that's horrible design. I find it horrible that a 'mage' class could make the best plate armor because of the int attribute providing more.

I prefer mounts to only be cosmetic. Otherwise you risk over balanced systems. The more sources of stats for combat the more of a problem for the devs to keep the game fun for everyone. Yes life isn't fair, but this is a game, not real life, and people expect things to be somewhat on an even playing field.
you dont want mounts to pull carts? or move faster than running? just a cosmetic bystander that follows you around and does nothing but look pretty!?

RE: Couple of questions mixed with a few hyper specific suggestions with reasoning.
you need to read the NEWS sections first. i'm not aware of any auto attacks. the game will be setup for actively aimed attacks which friends can take the damage for you if they're between you and the attack.
Fractured isn't a MOBA but will offer the active attack style.
cosmetics are bound to the account/character, not the item. probably more like Path of Exile. nothing should be made soulbound.
i doubt we'll get mounted combat at release, it is something i'd be interested in.

RE: Alpha 1.2 Download link question
i assume it'll be posted to email, twitter, kickstarter and the forums... when it's ready, you'll know.

RE: Real Crafting
bad gear similar to gray or worn tier could drop. it could give materials to those that break them down.

@Logain said in Int, is the most important crafting stat!:
Wouldn't that be something to adjust and discuss in/during beta, when the game is feature complete and one can really evaluate and compare the concrete usefulness of stats?
Wouldn't it be better to acknowledge that INT is a problem when it's the primary attribute for every craft? I'd prefer to let DS know now than when it's in beta and harder to change the UI and other systems.

RE: Int, is the most important crafting stat!
they never will be equal though. the veteran has game experience, they'll know how well the character is against others. the new player wont. I have this same problem being silver portrait in Overwatch. The new players dont know game mechanics that I do.
it also means new players might be better for doing mundane stuff like turning ore into ingots, while the experienced player turns those ingots into goods.
