that would be cool and all but i used AI more as NPC.

no classes here either. i suspect people will have 1 self sustained or will try to get as much life leech as possible.

RE: Trade caravans...?
why do you assume you and a friend could kill them? maybe the AI decides to follow you despite there being a 10m rule because you're low HP.
why do you assume the AI would only be melee and the person hiring them wouldn't get ranged, melee, and support? the AI could be cavalry too which is used to scout 30m around the caravan. maybe there're scouts further along the path looking for hostiles.

RE: Disappointed
that's because 'alpha' is being used despite it really being a beta.

RE: Partnering with humble bundle
i see humble bundle more as an online store and less as a publisher.
i'd prefer DS stays publisher free but host the download on multiple platforms. Discord, Steam, Windows, Humble Bundle, GoG, etc.

RE: What challenges should guild alliances face?
so melee dps doesn't exist? i'd love to see a type of melee healing!
they'll have to turn off collision in cities. there's no way around it.
eve online has a fee for alliance size, iirc. DS could make it exponential in cost as you add guilds into the alliance. lets say DS wants an alliance to average 5 guilds. after 5 guilds the cost to maintain the alliance could double and double for each guild after 6.
my problem is when a guild or alliance becomes so big that it's better to split it into multiple. this is also used to by pass many limits placed at the guild level.

(...)one group would be escorting 1 wagon(...)
Players or NPCs? It's easy enough with players, there are no additional requirements. But with NPCs, how do you handle the AI? Should the caravan stop or continue during a raid? Do the guards keep locked to the caravan or do they pursue the bandits?
Because if they stay around the caravan, it's easy enough to pick them out from a distance, one by one. If they follow the bandits, you send in one bait, lure them off and then raid the helpless wagons.the AI depends on how much you spend
if you buy the best geared (call them veterans or something) then they'll stay withing 10m of the caravan. maybe these come standard with better gear but still worse than player crafted.
if you buy the second best they may wonder a little further, say 15-20m away.
the new mercs are easily baited so they'll go even further!maybe you could buy.. er rent some new mercs and they gain exp if they dont die!
another option could be you outfit them with gear or they use their own (which is worst to equal to bad player created gear). IE if a player has white tier gear as a base then they'll have a mix of gray and white. I only offer this because it's a player economy and crafters need all the means necessary to sell/trade gear.I'll note that these AI mercs shouldn't drop gear as it could be easily exploited/farmed (if it's their base gear, player crafted gear can be acquisition!)

i could have sworn FF was talked about in one of the Q&A videos.

RE: Writing books?
i doubt you'll personally get a report of it.
Neverwinter added in a way for players to create stories via game mechanics. people created xp maps for exploitative leveling.
archeage allowed any image to be imported to the game. people put hentai and other explicit images in.if it can be exploited, it will be. it's best to keep it out of the game and let people use 3rd party websites to host it.

will you be responsible for minors reading porn?
Well that escalated quickly.
I didn’t imagine players wasting their time writing erotica on a video game for the corruption of minors. Maybe the ability to write books could be reserved for high end intelligence or perception players?
while intentions are good about writing in game, it'll be used for anything to bypass filters parents may have setup. it's a liability for DS even if they're in another part of the world.
if you give the players a creative way to express themselves some will use it wrong and it'll get removed.

Disappointed that the latest Alpha had none of the environmental features that are the strongest reason I chose to invest in this game in the first place.
alpha - Computer Definition

RE: Guilds & Governor pledge packs
only reason alts exist is because there are 3 main races, 8 sub-races, angel/demon/litch versions of each sub-race.
While i plan to main a demon race, i do plan to have a beast and human just to see the differences of play style and planets.

RE: What challenges should guild alliances face?
challenges... like another alliance wanting your property and waging war over it!?
i'm not sure the Beastkin planet will have that but I assume it may have it.
-
RE: When is the alpha finishing?
yeah.. i dont consider 16 hours being 'easily replaceable gear' as mentioned by @Prometheus. I'll assume this is strictly for testing the mechanic.

RE: Writing books?
until you read a book and it's nothing but furry porn.

RE: Trade caravans...?
entire trip would be mercenary npcs, but really we shouln't need that. either you risk going solo or you bring a group.

RE: to the developers
@Syllah said in to the developers:
I would like to point out, importantly, that players are not paying for the alpha or beta - they are paying to support the game, and because of their willingness to take a risk, are given access to early testing phases. However, alpha and beta keys aren't dependent on paying for them - they are a matter of how many people are needed to test during a certain phase. If the developers need more players, which has been the case, keys will be given away. The business model isn't to sell alpha or beta keys, it's to allow early supporters to gain additional access and benefits.
but i can promise you if there were no alpha or beta access many of those packs wouldn't sell. quite honestly many people buy the early access!
