/sigh.. not again.
quick search mate:
the point of animals is crafting materials which is the point of most of the NPCs.
in my mind the whole point of the survival and crafting system is for pvp. Having recently started Black Desert Online, I'm starting to see the similarities between Fractured and BDO. If you've played BDO then think of it with a static camera and 3 planets.

Lack of communication. We didn't get any contact pills or update what's going on since alpha test 2. I personally think it's a big nono since everyone is afraid of Kickstarter game to fail or disappear. Please even update saying u guys are going to vacation or anything to keep ppl knowing what's going on. When ppl don't know wat's going on, ppl just not going to put more money in it.
I just sank $1500 into Fractured, purchasing first the Governor's pack and then the Creator's.
This is the first time I've ever "pledged' or "backed" a game prior to its full release, so I'm in uncharted territory personally.
And as someone who suffers from chronic buyer's remorse, I can't help but feel I've taken an enormous risk.
So my hope to @Prometheus, @Specter, and @Znirf is that they'll vindicate the community's faith with regular updates. Specter assured me that a content pill is coming this week.
I've sank thousands into pre-released games and only 1 has released in a timely manor. all the rest have had delays from years to almost lustrum (5 years). 2 have had full releases while the other 4 haven't.
just dont get emotional over it. just forget about it for a few months, or even a few seasons, then check in from time to time. maybe read the emails if you're in alpha 1 so you can get in and do some testing.
i consider it as a whole new character, sans the name.
i'd like to see Tartaros having a corruption place, a place where good aligned players cant enter except to be killed. make it similar to the beast planet. it really pisses me off that so many benefits are on the high karma side.
but they are used that way. people who state said wrongs are told otherwise.
people use duel as they do because of video games calling it that, whether it's a spar or duel.
beastkin/good karma will only have 30 minutes on Tartaros just like demons/bad karma will have on the beast planet. both ends of the karma will have 30 minutes to pvx and/or explore. we'll need a few spawn locations on each planet so that it's possible to learn as much as we can and unlock as much as we can.
the gods are always watching. i consider Karma a system of the gods.

@Jetah regardless of if u need premium tabs to use online bots to sell stuff, it is 100% FTP. you dont need stupid amounts of currency to beat path of exile and reach lvl 100... just lots of grinding. People with premium stash tabs wont have an advantage to someone that doesn't, that has some brains in their head.
the premium stash tabs mean that player can play the game whereas the f2p will have full tabs then will have to wait till stuff sells, if ever. the only bypass is getting another account and trying to trade.
If you have full tabs... do this thing called... selling items... or this other thing called... getting rid of stuff you don't need.... stop being such a hoarder...
remember that if you're selling items, you aren't slaying. unless you're one that advertises good and ignores PMs.
@Meiki said in Sparring/Duels:
Sparring should be fine, as they are both honorable and the intent is not to kill the opponent, but to sparr. Duels are usually meant in a more serious way. So we could have Sparring on Arboreus and sparring/duels on Syndesia and duels on Tartaros with Sparring ending once one of the participants reaches 10% of their HP (at which point all damage, debuffs and dots caused by his opponent are cleansed) and duels ending when one of the participants loses consciousness.
We're using spar and duel as synonyms.

we dont know, but i doubt it'll be easy. I just hope it requires to do everything in the game!
I hope it's insanely difficult to become an Angel, Abomination, or Lich and that it gets play tested during Beta since rarely do devs anticipate what players will do.
testing could make it easy. talk to npc, get the new thing. beta could have a few parts of the quest chain to make sure things work well. then for live the whole chain could be add in. if DS wanted to they could add in parts each week/month thus time gating it.
but i really would like to see it be a all-the-things type quest chain. get all the knowledge. do all the professions (that we can do). do pvp. do pve. do invasions. do defense of said invasions. do city sieges. etc. make sure the person is well rounded and has done it all.
I personally hope that as little about this mechanic is put into the beta release as possible... it will both build extra hype and suspense for the final release and also make the idea more fresh and flexible when it is released. I, like seemingly everyone else, want it to be insanely difficult as well, as to show player dedication to earn the title of complete purity or complete monstrosity in the race they choose to play.
I only offered that because some mechanics need to be tested. The game wont feature many quest so having an object, interaction and turn in, while simple still needs to be tested. DS could change the text flavor as well maybe even the item.
I'm playing BlackDesert and they have a way to insert the quest during the week of so dataminers can't see them early. This is something I'd love for DS to do.
it's more than a title. it's a completely new character, as in, pre- could be considered a tutorial! I expect to see a new character creation for it.
How difficult would it be to develop ML/AI as a plugin for game developers? I'm talking the basic functions that would allow the script to learn. (I dont program so I dont have an idea on the scope of the project.)
new $100m stretch goal: complete artificial intelligence for NPCs.. all of them!!!!

@Gothix said in What challenges should guild alliances face?:
@Jetah guild immunity can be a thing if guilds have limited membership numbers (lets say 200-300, that's enough for decent guild). In that way you would not have thousand players zergs happening. Or if instead of member limit you have soft cap on member limit by imposing large upkeep costs on large guilds.
We NEED to have as many different guilds as possible, not only for combat aspects and sieges, but for politics, and everything else. Guild member limit is one way I see to make people not go the path of the least effort and all join one huge guild. The other way is to make large guilds have large running costs. I wrote about that in one of the other threads.
The reason I'd prefer guild based immunity, is in case you run into small skirmish happening, 2 vs 3 vs 2 vs 4... and 2 of those are your guild members...
With guild immunity on, you can jump in and help them instantly without having to yell for them to invite you in their party first. It makes an experience much smoother.
And member limitation (or soft cap mechanics) will still prevent large zergs happening, because there will be no guilds with huge member numbers out there.
too easy to zerg though. we dont want 150 people balls running around killing everything because they can't do damage to their guild mates.
@Xzoviac
it was already mentioned on one of the Q&A videos, which is why i said it'll have it. now, things can change but i'd prefer they dont.
we have a whole thread on FF somewhere.

with how elements react with other elements, i dont see how full FF would work.
if we're fighting something in water and i use an electric spell then you're taking damage as well as the mob/player. if i'm near melee range while you're swinging then i'm taking melee damage while attack the mob/player.
i dont see full FF working.
That makes sense. I've mostly been thinking about friendly fire in context of fireball-style AoE (an Albion Online thing, I suppose), as opposed to direct attacks where you click on an enemy, and the enemy only is targeted.
But yeah, now that you mention it, even direct melee attacks in Fractured are AoE.
this game doesn't have click attacks. you shoot a projectile it can hit anything in the path. when you aim, you have to predict where they'll be so you hit them. If you have a tank friend, they can intercept hits (be in-between you and the attack) so you dont take damage or take less.
@Bardikens
Guild immunity means blog/zerg fight styles and i'm completely against that! It's been mentioned by staff that groups will have friendly fire immunity but nothing much was stated beyond that.

I'm considering strongly upgrading from Governor to a higher package while they're available. But before I do, I have important questions I need answered before I spend even more money.
- The Immortal package promises access to developer forums; I haven't seen these, even though I'm Governor. I saw a post from Prometheus on the forums saying they were slated to be created in mid-April 2019. When will they be created and what kind of access does this entail?
- The Aristocrat package promises access to a private monthly Q&A with developers; when will these occur?
- The Creator package promises personal direct access to the development team; what does this entail?
Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!
get on the Discord! Send them an email! They're in Italy so the time zones may differ for you.

@Althalus said in Emergent NPC AI:
@dawnofcrow this is similar to the "living world" concept thatmakers of Legends of Aria (used to be known as Shards mmo) were promising... the legend of aria devs realized that players were killing off mobs quicker than they could spawn... with the size of mmo population living/changing world just cant survive... the orcs would be massacred two seconds after spawning and wont even get the chance to walk two feet away from the spawn point let alone wander the world creating orc camps.... not sure why Devs haven't brought these ideas into single player though! would be amazing to have something like this in single player!
that's when you start increasing the stats of the newly spawned mobs. that should be part of their natural growth cycle. when they're stronger than the players, the players will move somewhere else. then the AI could change them further.
