    • RE: How to implement fast travelling?

      a big question is:

      do we need fast travel?

      i played daoc back when and they only had horse taxies which you could jump off of. now cities are created in fractured so it could be a challenge to add them.
      there's also the use of alts to get things done in areas your main isn't in.

      to counter that, i love having the option of cities (of a certain size) that can build a portal element into the ground (or arch) and let the players activate them. I've watched Critical Role and the use of a daily portal is pretty convenient but having that be unlocked by the player. Maybe it starts by learning how to teleport x yards in a direction. that spell could be the foundation to learn how to teleport further distances.

      i don't like the idea of just giving the players a way to teleport between cities/house. to me they need to earn it both with the city/house and the knowledge system.

    • RE: Whats in the future graphically.

      one problem i see is you're comparing 3rd person view mmo's against an isometric view. I'm not playing Fractured for bleeding edge art style. I'm here for gameplay.

      @d3Sync
      I agree with what I remember of the the washed out colors. i do feel something needs to be improved, however, i play on a GTX960 and i don't expect to have the settings on ultra or even high while playing. so that might have been a limiting factor for me.

    • RE: Death Penalty of losing all gear and inventory: WORST IDEA EVER!!!

      @SmithyJones We've also glossed over the fact that gear will be easily obtainable to a certain threshold. you wont need to raid weekly for a chance to find that 1 piece. you wont need to grind reputation so you can get enough currency and reputation tier to buy that item.

      you're playing a test version of the game. the whole test is a waste of your time as everything is reset when the game releases. (just a little nit-pick)

      honestly the whole bard thing with player created music can be solved by allowing the player to hear enemy fractured music. this allows your team/group/guild to play the music they want but allow the enemy to hear generic adventure music.

      @TekNicTerror said in Death Penalty of losing all gear and inventory: WORST IDEA EVER!!!:

      I am with the people who do not wish to see any death penalty at all. Nothing should be dropped on player death, no matter the cause (PvE or PvP). There should be no more incentives given to PKers, or even resource campers who attack people who come to gather/mine, other than just another kill on their belt in open world PvP environments..

      sounds like the fury planet will be perfect for you.

      there are too many games where death shouldn't even be apart of the game because there's no loss. I like games that punish a player/group for losing.

      a report function is needed too.

      ArcheAge did that and there was some bad stuff created.

      In FFXIV the bard class has the ability to play different musical instruments outside of fights. The music outside of the fights doesn't have any advantages, but its kind of fun. There are even some bands that are make concerts...

      SWG has music as a way to 'heal the mental state' and similar functions. it allowed those that didn't want to fight an option to not be a crafter or gatherer.

      @Specter please pin this thread, these QnAs are really not pushed hard enough. 🙂

      the links seems like something better suited for the Wiki! complete with transcribe.

      all the videos should be transcribed! it'll make thing easily searchable, easier to translate and easy to point to when someone ask.

      not to mention the audio quality might not be there. dont rely on the community to provide it, it's something the CM could be doing!

    • RE: How to implement fast travelling?

      as much as this pains me to say, as the advantage on the fury planet would be huge, but if a town become large enough there could exist a teleportation circle (similar to D&D) that could be placed (and could be limited to 1 per city). then it could take reagents to cast a party teleport, but that could be limited from a teleportation circle as well.

      this could create a market for teleportation, but have it so the character has to see the portal to memorize it. then if they dont visit the circle after (say 3 real months) they forget it and will have to travel back to it. maybe scrolls could be created so that anyone could use the ability to teleport and the reagents were not required because they were spent to create the scroll.

      the teleport ability could be limited to 1 per 20 hour period. so that people cant abuse the teleport system.

      i doubt it.

      maybe make the corpse untargeted if there's no loot but can be a target for any abilities that needs a corpse.

    • RE: How do the devs stand against modding?

      @Gothix

      that was because of the immaturity of the system.

      right now i'd like the option to rearrange the UI or add additional information to tooltips. personally i'm not for making dps meters, auction mods, etc.

      @Harleyyelrah said in How do the devs stand against modding?:

      I'm also against modding, it starts becoming a slippery slope where some mods will do too much and become "necessary" for features like pvp or else those who don't have it are at a disadvantage and etc.

      Just have a good UI in game innately and eliminate the potential mess with modding.

      i mean. if the API doesn't offer that advantage then it wont exist as a mod!

    • Vitiligo Skin Option for Demons

      I was going through imgur and came across a post about someone with vitiligo that learned to crochet because children with it dont have any visuals of it in media.

      I'd think it'd be a great option for Demons and you can offer a white, pink and black option! or sliders so we can create our own. percent coverage, color scale, etc.

      maybe the lesser races can get it too but i dont really care about them.

      @Znick said in Cheapest sub ?:

      Should be $50 to buy and then $15 a month... hell, Ultima Online charged that 23 years ago, so did Everquest. If the game is good, we should pay monthly to make it better.

      UNLESS! They're making more than the $15 a person average from selling cosmetics... that model works as well.

      Z

      either charge a sub or mtx but dont double dip..

      @Talox

      i'm for developer released API that allows people to change the UI within those API boundaries. WoW is a great example of API (LUA iirc) but i do believe it went a little overboard with some mods.

      @Specter

      there's a reason why Blizzard put WoW tokens in the game. There's a reason why Warframe has plat tradable.

      I think DS is missing out on some revenue.

    • RE: Alpha 2 - Test 3 Launch Day Revealed

      @Xzait

      problem is you're not thinking of the whole picture.

      the demons will love fluid moving.
      humans will love politics.
      furries will love pve content.

      if DS isn't adding new pve content then those groups will just leave once they get their gear. the game has to evolve otherwise it'll die. new knowledge, new technology, new races, new spells, new archtypes, etc has to be added.

      sandboxes get boring once you've played with all of the toys. Fractured will get to the same point. and they have to defend against people leaving for other games.
