      (...)Just use the Imagination.

I think you misunderstood what I meant to express. I was trying to highlight the fact that the developers seem (in my humble opinion) to want making travel between planets something special and 'rare', requiring work and effort by the travelling player. A true experience. Hence why they artificially limit teleportation spells and why interplanetary travel requires preparation.

If you can just summon a demon, it directly contradicts this and makes it a common occurrence that is no longer valued.

OP is talking about the "human summons a powerful demon from the twisting nether that'll their bidding. muhahahaha" but they're actually just summoning demons from Tartaros. there are plenty of stories that this type revolves around.

OP isnt talking about "we'll make a quick portal so demons can invade the country side".

I agree it would fit the Demon beeing able to be summoned in general, although the demon in this game is a more free will kind of demon. They are not controlled by another entity or can be dismissed.

Summoning only for Demons would be an unbalanced feature, especially in PvP and in visiting other planets.

The summons can be limited to knowledge on the summoner vs the knowledge for the summoned. IE a summoner has a level 50 knowledge and a demon has a level 15, then the demon gets a prompt asking if they want to be a summoned demon for x amount of time (i know knowledge levels dont exist, it's an example). The time limit can be based on the knowledge of the summoner or can be a hard limit. IE low knowledge can be 1 minute while high knowledge could be 5 minutes. The demon who doesn't follow the rules of the summoner can be 'forced' into do it (ie the Pet NPC AI takes over for a short time).

The reason a demon would want to do this is they gain knowledge on the planet they're on. they get to see other parts of the planet (still limited to the hard rules of only positive karma in the holy place, etc). It could be possible to increase the knowledge gained thus giving a better incentive to be a 'slave' for 1-5 minutes. Now I'd like to see this apply for the Beastkin too but I'm not sure they'd be willing to do it. as you gain knowledge on the other planet, you also gain resistance toward being summoned. This allows new Demons more opportunity to be summoned and the older Demons 'are too strong willed to be summoned' lore thing.

One player goes to another planet and uses the limited time to get as far as possible, then he summons a friend, who can extend the things the other one started, then he can summon a 3th one etc etc.

the invasions have a 30 minute hard limit then you're forcefully teleported off the planet. The summons can be limited to the human planet only for demons, and can't be summoned during an eclipse. Maybe the summons takes 5 minutes (has to go through a few demons that want to be summoned) and while the channel happens they can't be attacked. This gives an incentive to good/neutral humans to stop it.

Monster Hunter genre would like to speak to you. there are attribute changes with knowledge or gear so it wont be 'zero' increase.

I'm not sure you understood what I was saying... or I didn't understand you, either way. Monster Hunter isn't a good example of what I was talking about because you absolutely get stronger over time. That's the gameplay loop. Get better gear which makes you stronger, fight harder monsters, repeat. That's what keeps people coming back to it, same loop as an MMO.

So unless I misunderstood @Xzoviac, that's not what's happening here.

How many pieces of gear drop in MH genre? usually it's crafting materials and you craft said item. Granted I haven't played MHW but have played Dauntless, which is described as MHW lite. Dauntless has you create all gear, except the starting weapon. The game play loop is fight mob, get crafting mats, craft armor, fight mob, get mats, craft weapon.

Now to argue against that game play loop, Eve Online has Drone NPCs which only drop crafting materials (well at least when I last played) and none of the 'ratters' (those that hunt npc's around asteroid belts) wanted to go there.

Personally, I'd love to be able to wear heavy armor, with two-handed axe, while casting spells. That'll make everyone believe my demon being dumb muscle, only for him to disintegrate the opponents with spells 🙂

Watched an Anime where a mages physical body determined their magic power and quantity. So the strongest and long lasting mages were the strong bros/sis. The entrance exam was getting the new hopefuls fit, and to see which would drop out because "magic doesn't need strong bodies".

      @Gothix

I always thought of needing a conduit for casting to be quite lame. to me the focus was more the hands or just the imagination.

All players will be the same strength thats the hole point in fractured , like a moba , with no grind. you wont get any stronger then day one, you will just learn new spells and new ways to fight, or craft, but basic stats wont change

That gameplay loop isn't gonna keep most people entertained for long if that's the case. Feeling yourself get more powerful is part of the formula that makes games like this fun.

i said sticks, not staves. not sure where you got that from.

the game is in alpha and things can change. today they're weapon bound, next week they're not. if we're in beta and it's like it is now then it is what it is.

the game isnt suppose to be restrictive in set classes but it's difficult to balance a caster in plate unless the plate has heavily reduced caster stats.

why should magic be limited to those using sticks?

(paladins use a sword/mace and shield and still cast spells)

they also mentioned discounts with NPCs but there shouldn't be any NPC selling goods outside of what players have created and i wouldn't sell stuff at a discount because of reputation. unless it was personal reputation to me like if they're always buying x item.

Humans have access to steampunk technology.

      So, how deluded are you?

well, that is rather disappointing. I guess it would make sense for the higher tier gear tho for humans.

humans don't stand a chance against demond and beast so they have tech that makes them equal to the other two.

Interesting suggestion, @Gothix! It would definitely serve as a social mechanic that incentivizes skill and a positive reputation. (Which should help deter ganking, if karma is involved.)

@Jetah said in [Poll] City Reputation System:

i thought they said there were limited NPCs and no grinding. wouldn't rep require NPCs and grinding?

      How so?

how do you get your reputation increased with a town/npc if there's no grinding advertised? if we have little quantity of npcs, how does one get a discount with an npc if the game advertises a "player economy"?

Luckily there is a big difference between steampunk style and pink PJ's/rainbow dresses.

It makes sense that humans after they have developed that technology (it will not be available at the start, as building the necessary elements will require the effort of a whole town) also develop a different style of clothing.

I assume (and hope) beast-man, humans and demons will have different armour styles. Closer to historic/reality Asian fantasy style.

red glass was only affordable to the wealthy because it takes gold to make that color. I can see Fractured offering 'casual' cosmetics for out of combat, or within a city, so that you can have multicolored dresses or gowns. Multicolor isn't bad, it's the teddy bear outfit, the police cars, etc (see Tera for more examples).

I'm ok with a wild temporary cosmetic change for a day, like April Fool's (or two), a year. I like having santa hats for christmas. i like bunny ears for easter. I know it's a video game and those holidays might not exist but i still enjoy the mix of the RL holidays within games.

unlike most MMO's, this one doesnt seem to be complete fantasy... looking more like a survival game like ARK. Cosmetics in games that look like this one would take away from the game for some players inatead of adding more to it. it would be immersion breaking for some players. especially if it isnt all based on a survival aspect and you can get pink neko costumes or flashy rainbow dresses

it's fantasy and steampunk-ish. i'd be ok with that.

my point is that there are players that wont be. just like other players have also said they dont want it in this thread. did you even read further than the last 3 or 4 comments?

then they're ignoring the whole human civilization using steampunk-ish styling.
