This might not even been worked out by development, but I was wondering how taming will effect PvP.

      1. Besides open world PvP, where I expect tamed animals to be availalble, I was wondering if you can have them with you during city raids and/or in arena-like PvP (if that's even becomming a thing in Fractured, not sure)

      2. Can they travel with you to other planets, or will it be too stressfull for them 🙂

      3. On a PvE aspect, will they be able to go with you into a (instanced) dungeon ?

      4. Will a tamed beast keep his original stats and "spells" or will they become equalised and for example every spider get a predetermined spell set, so the difference will only be visual.

      5. And as I understand the maximum amount of pets is determined by the Charisma you have. Will this mean a max of (for example) 3-5 pets (Diablo 2 Druid) or 20+ like in a Diablo 2 Summoner.

      Hello everyone,
A player can tame only monsters and animals that are in-game, so there won't be any creature that exists only as a pet. But obviously, not all the existing mobs can be tamed, for example, we will avoid the training of the ones with too much HP or too strong.

For the questions 1,2 and 3, the answer is yes since carrying a pet is a core part of the player's build. You can bring your pet out wherever you want; there won't be any restrictions about that.

For 4 and 5. The pet abilities will be the same as the original tamed animal. For the future, maybe we will add the possibility to tame your pets actively, deciding the spells you want or change some of them as you prefer. But we speak about expansions post-release, there is time 🙂
Everything concerning pets is related to Charisma. One of the modifiers linked to it will be "Animal Handling" and will determine:

      • How many pets you will be able to carry with you (The maximum number will be three pets at the same time, also depending on the strength of them).
      • If you can control it (For example, the monsters will be challenging to tame, the animals instead will be accessible to everyone)

@Kuroi said in Effect from Taming on mainly PvP:

there are instanced dungeons confirmed for fractured? really?

Yes! There will be public instanced dungeons, so, anyone can enter there at the same time and play together.

Taming could normalize the mob stats so that no one mob is stronger or has more hp than others in the same category. if the Tamers skill is high enough they should be able to tame any creature! (maybe dragons or whatnot are an exception but a dragon tamer would be pretty sweet too!).

Why is Charisma the main stat? Why are all mobs affected by it instead of other stats. Maybe some creatures only follow physically strong leaders! Maybe some only follow those with higher intelligence.

Put some options so that min-max can't happen! have the stats needed to tame be separate by mob archetype.

@Gonky said in Reserve a name separately?:

Hello all and thank you for the replays.

Indeed i like to use the same player name for every game i have been in and have been put off games when i havent been able to use my name which i have used for the past 19-20 years. I would be willing to pay a fee to reserve my char name. I am not willing to pay 89.99 just to reserve a name though.
Even if they gave a option to pay a little extra to reserve a name when you purchase a lower pack like ADEPT then i would be more willing to do that but for me at the moment i just cant see myself paying 89.99.

Hear is the link to the parts i was mentioning about only being able to reserve a name is you purchase "LEGEND"
      https://fracturedmmo.com/store/#pack

what if the name reservation was 59.99?
personally id say if you want the name reservation then you'll have to spend the 90!

@Jetah You won´t know the recipe to craft it and you won´t have the materials to do so.

Also the "best item" should not exist within Fractured anyways. Different builds / items should be more / less viable in different situations. Will be very interesting to see how they are going to handle the progression.

being that gear, attributes, skills is just a formula there will be a 'best', that's why min-maxers exist.
people will come close to reversing the formula so that they can get as much affect from the gear, attributes, and skills.

      @Farlander
the idea is more options but not more power.

    • Fan Weapon Type

I was just watching an anime and they had a Fan as a weapon.
      https://i.imgur.com/HD3R2pd.jpg

I was thinking about this and the materials that it could be made out of and what archetype that could use it. I'm using archetype instead of class because Fractured doesn't have classes. Paper, Wood, Cloth with Wood, Bone, Plant (something strong similar to stalks or bamboo) for Beast & Human Casters.
Metal for Melee. Demons could have Cloth as Caster Materials. Leather and Bone for Stealthy. Stone and Skin for Melee type.

While I gave some ideas for archetypes, it's completely possible that the material doesn't really effect the archetype that uses. There could be casters that use Leather, Skin and Stone for Demons.

What's neat about Fans is that they can be folded and used to stab (it would mimic a dagger).

Naruto anime had a Fan user but it was a 2h weapon (quite a large Fan) which helped with Wind based attacks.

I dont like the idea of Fans being a ranged attack by throwing but that's an option too.

I know this wont happen at release and I'd never expect it but, maybe, Fractured could get some stylized expansions.

so we can craft the best item at the beginning of the game?

I would like to see a mill which players can use for making a different kind of flours and powders used in crafting. Milling grains, bones, horns, herbs, fruits etc. used for in cooking and alchemy for example.

Also a blacksmith's workshop and forge would be quite obvious choise..

the mill could even be used to grind up powders for poisons 😮 i like the idea of workshop upgrading too. you are able to destroy items on your plot, so you could destroy your old crafting table when you make a more advanced one and dont need it anymore perhaps.

Yeah for poisons too. I actually think that it is important to have a plot structure progression and upgrade system. Crafting better and wider selection of items and materials makes only sense to have higher level structures too. Upgraded structures can also unlock more QoL things, for example upgraded tanning tube have more slots and faster timers. In latest alpha test it was a really tedious job to craft only one item/material at the time. Maybe crafting stations could help here and offer option to craft several items for row.

i'd like to see knowledge also attribute to faster times, it could also add additional slots, more production and less raw materials used. This works well in Eve Online. Eve also has stations with varying efficiency with crafting (they call it manufacturing but it's sci-fi). IE a station might have 5% efficiency with turning raw into useable minerals but the manufacturing might be 35% faster. or the refining (turning raw into usable) might be 50% but no manufacturing. The player built stations were similar too. Sometimes it's better to refine in one station, haul to another to build.

Eve also has PoS (think small towns) that have certain addons, one such as the capital ship manufacturing. a Mothership and Titan could only be built in a PoS. These were 3 month long builds, took a bunch of resources and needed to be defended or you'd lose the build progress.

With Fractured, instead of temporary towns, some better built items could be required a city or a monument/relic of some type. Once this item was built then competing guilds would know they're about to build something big. which may force them to come conquer the city.

also allows you to put points into other another stat. so once you hit 20-25 in strength you can craft with stats in vitality (or whatever).

    • RE: Summon Fellow Demon Players Ability

while reading my post, after checking out the upvote, I realized the summon could be a 'mount'. let me explain.

in WoW there are certain quest where your character is playing another character. that new character has a few specific abilities. this allows you to experience a perspective of gameplay that we wouldn't have access to. One such quest was you being Khadgar. Another was being 1 of 3 ancients during the Ancient War. Another was being a Naga.

It would mean the summoner could summon a specific type of demon. If a player wasn't available to accept it then the AI could control it just as it was any pet.

we're asking for a "summon demon" spell that lets us control or be controlled.
IE humans summon a demon (plenty of folklore and anime about this as examples) to take over the world and grant the summoner immense power. Instead of that, it's asking a Demon if they wish to be a 'slave' for a while as a gameplay option.

This wouldn't give the summoned demon free reign like a teleport.

@deusex2 said in Summon Fellow Demon Players Ability:

We're talking about, for example, being a player demon, and suddenly a shiny portal spawns in front of you and you get a pop-up stating that somebody's calling you from the other side of the portal, and when you walk through you are transported from Tartaros to Syndesia, into a summoner's party and become a PC summoned demon 🙂

Even if for only a temporary.

Instead of a "harsh" NO, I think by implication he is saying that what you guys are asking for, will not be implemented. ☺

honestly the comment by the CM just sounds like they had no idea what we were wanting. they assumed it was a teleport spell to moving demons freely between locations when what we want is a spell that allows the demon to be a slave for a period of time. sure it would look like a teleport but it isn't in that the demon being summoned wouldn't have free control over the area where they move. IE when summoned, they'd have a limited range around the summoner and would be forced teleported (just like a hunter's pet). they would only be able to attack 'hostile' enemies based on what the summoner has set (would a hunter have aggressive, defensive, passive for their pet). the summoned demon would be a player controlled pet in the grand scheme of things. only advantage the demon would get is they'd gain knowledge as though they were to use a portal. This is the incentive to be summoned. IE if one mob on the human planet was further away than 30 minutes (typical invasion timer) then you'd never get access to said mobs, however, if a human (or neutral other race) summoned you and they were grinding in that location then you'd gain knowledge. it's a win-win. the summoner gets immersion being able to 'summon a powerful demon' and the demon gets knowledge for that area, the mobs, any exploration that might happen, maybe even some knowledge on the spells or abilities the summoner was using. without any knowledge being granted to the demon, the demons have no reason to be summoned for a set time.

a limit could be placed on an account so that one account can be summoned once per 20-24 hours or a 'favorite' demon could be setup so that the summoner feels like they're summoning the same demon. Maybe some demon wants their account to be specific for summons!

      @Gothix
you'd either get a 'new body' but your gear wouldn't ever be dropped. either a new body is created and you're given gear by the summoner or you use the gear you have equipped but it wont be damage.

you arent' picking stuff up so you'd have no need for inventory. you aren't taking durability hit by using your gear either.

Hello everyone! Demons will have some small advantages, especially during the Asteroids events, but they won't have the possibility to summon others of the same race.

Explaining how the teleport will work in Fractured; one single person should ever initiate the act of teleporting or casting a spell or entering a portal, and there will be:

      • teleporting spells that will be almost direct and will transport only the caster.
      • Portals or teleporting systems for a group of people or materials: in this case, it will be necessary a structure of some kind (permanent or not), and a high consumption of resources.

So in general, teleporting will be a really tough activity and will require a big effort!

      @Gothix

I'd like to see the Foundation become a seasonal thing but maybe a year length instead of a usual 3 months. DS could cap the level at 500 or something and let people just stay at cap if they reach it before it resets.

I'd love to have a reason to visit the forums and engage after the game is live. It would attempt to curb toxicity too because if you're banned on the forums then you can't obtain the Foundation exclusives!

I'd be ok with 1 new cosmetic item a year. They can put a full armor set (as an example) over 500 levels. IE Boots, Pants, Chest, Gloves, Shoulders and Helm at every 100 levels. Mounts, pets, titles, skins can be recolored but be exclusive to the Foundation.

i understand trying to figure out which race is best for a type of gameplay. but trying to squeeze out every bit of damage when core systems aren't in game wont really happen. but i'll say it would be sweet to (solo) kill bears before majority of the systems are in.

I wouldn't say looking at min/maxing is completely useless at this point. We are at a stage when those numbers can change easier. If no one looks at them then the devs may not see any issues. I agree those formulas/tables will change because I'm sure they are not perfect from the start. I must say I appreciate those guys that do this and put it up on the third party sites because I'm too lazy to do it myself lol.

easier for the developers to put the formulas in a spreadsheet to see how the final values line up at different areas. We have to reverse engineer the formulas which can be off at times. it wouldn't take much for DS to say these formulas are bad, we need to refine them between alpha and beta. Or they could have hired someone that is great at balancing.

I assume we dont even have access to all the attribute options right now. So no boost from knowledge, no boost from gear stats. it literally is impossible to min-max for the final release state when we're missing 90% of the parts needed.

i'm sure if enough people want them, it'll become an item.

they might add a skin for in game chests that mimic the foundation items if enough people ask for it.
Otherwise i'm sure it will remain separate for the fact it needs to look good to sell good.

Despite only being available via the foundation atm. it's sure to be in the shop at launch, otherwise they would not have bothered creating them in the first place.
They would have simply given you specific items as a foundation reward.

the chest, right now, are just a sketch that will open to grant an item. we're asking that they become real items that can hold items, similar to a house chest/bank.
plenty of games have lootboxes that aren't actual items. we're asking for it to be a usable item. IE play the foundation game, you'll also get chest that can be placed in your house as well as the random item you get.
