the game developers shouldn't interject on these matters unless there are threats.

Well, they are too small to take a noticeable area off the screen, but you are right.
Anyway, I was just addressing the point raised by Farlander that extra cosmetic pets cause lag - it shouldn't be the case because adding a cosmetic pet only increases the size of sent packages by a tiny amount. Combat pets on the other hand...
i've always had issues with fire causing fps issues.
@Razvan said in Upgradable Pets:
@Jetah
I know, but for cosmetic pets the server only has to tell the client "player X has Y pet". The client will then assign for the pet a position near the player and generate actions for it (move around the player, do a certain animation bla bla). This means that if me, you and Farlander are on the same location, we can see each other's pets, but they might not be in the same place / do the same action on each of our screens. On the other hand, when it comes to combat pets, the server has to register and tell each client their exact location, action, HP etc.
i could see removing the non-combat pets during large combat if the client is having problems. IE it's a 15v15 so the client removes those pets. but the game is isometric which limits the amount of loaded content the client has to keep in memory. there's only so much that can fit within the screen size.
@asspirin said in Life leech on spells / enchants / buff abilities:
@Razvan If i remember correctly, devs stated you can chain stuns... which is IMO broken as the first guy to land aoe stun in team vs team situation wins the fight for team (even if SAVES are taken into consideration).
if so that'll be the first thing complained about. it's always the first thing complained about and usually the hardest for devs to fix.
@Prometheus we need some combat specifics spotlights. some communications on game mechanics in more detail.

@Yitra
that sounds good on paper until you have 50 guildies that need gear so you all/some head out to a spot to get materials.Yeah, that why I am playing PvE so I don't have to waste my playtime on replacing my gear all the time and fighting of morons who's only pleasure in life is beating other players most likely below their level/gear etc
sounds boring though.

It's been my experience that the more stuff on the screen the more lag. I would like to see pets that are cosmetic in nature be limited to 1 and pets that can actually do damage be limited as well. The more pets allowed to fight with you the more unbalanced it will be for every other class.
The cosmetic pets will probably be on the client-side and won't affect lag.
Cosmetic pets will probably be client-side because it's irrelevant if you see them at a different position than they actually are. How about the combat pets, as far as I understand it scales with CHA, so most people won't have 3 summons at once.
that's not how advertising works. when someone buys a cosmetic the developers want that person to advertise it to others and to do that is to simply have it be seen by everyone.

i haven't really had that much but then again i've been on a GTX 960 for 6 years. the Radeon 5600XT will be retailed soon for 245$ so that's a pretty good upgrade for me and the price is spot on!

I think that it would be move effective or satisfying to "work" through the evolution personally. What i mean is that if it is about the knowledge then it would be a development for the character/account.
Harvest 1000 Stones = +1 knowledge of Metallurgy opens up Iron Ore
Harvest 1000 Iron Ore = +1 knowledge of Metallurgy opens up Coal2 points of Metallurgy opens up Steel
but that goes against their 'no grind' policy.
@Yitra

but Tristram is a location.
@Razvan said in Enough attackers / defenders during eclipses:
@Jetah Ah, they start out as good already? In my head it made more sense to start out as neutral and become good after some PvE, but they probably want to completely rule out pvp on Arboreus (with very few exceptions).
Still, as I understand, the furries and demons don't get heavy debuffs on human planet. If you have a group focused on becoming evil, it shouldn't be too hard of a task.
furies start out good, they might not be very far but enough as to not be kicked off the planet. just like demons start out bad but not fully negative karma.
a group for sure will have fun on the human planet for pvp. i think we need a term for the 'pack' of them. I do like Murder (as in the crows).

All this stuff you are talking about are not even on the devs table yet we need to get basics in game first party features combat needs lots of polishing. Housing ability to add others on it so there isnβt a million of them cluttering the world. Bunch more that are way more important that weβre brought up in bugs list during last test.
I am pointing out the possibility of a frustrating flaw in the idea of Arboreus. I'm not saying they should think of a solution now, but there should be a way to dispute farming spots at release (and preferably that solution could be implemented and tested prior to that).
yeah i dont like the idea of ignoring a problem like this until it's beta or worst at release.
i vote /rps (rock paper scissors) (but then again i'll be a demon so it wont matter to me)
@asspirin said in Primitive weapons:
@Jetah Yep i got it
, but then only one thing would happen - nukers would go full tank, gankers/backstabbers full damage, meta would totally change and everyone would go same build. But idea is good - why not set such rules for "asteroids" - maps you can visit for some challenge. They would last only as long as you visit asteroid and would add to challenge.
i forgot about the asteroids ><
i dont see a nuker going full tank if there's no magic. i dont see a 2h going in a zero melee damage world.
there could be specific cosmetic rewards for joining and participation in these activities too! We could build a whole set of gear and weapons that rotate. helm, weapon1, chest, weapon2, pants, weapon3, boots, weapon4, shoulders, weapon 5, pet1, weapon6, etc.
@Shivashanti
i rather like the idea of them and it fits the lore of the game. besides, sometimes you want something different, asteroids or planets with that could be a temporary 'event' style thing.
meta's exist for all games. there's always a mathematically superior build.

But i am curious about the Abomination and how long it will be to reach it.
Probably not very long since you have to PK people and most likely the penalty for that will be big on Arboreus.
I am also very curious how PVP will work in Fractured.
I am also very curious about it and I hope it doesn't follow the aoe-heavy trend.
Arboreus will not have good v good pvp. it's actually impossible to do that at all. furies have to travel to the human planet to kill neutral players there.

oh! so few this week.. what happened?
@asspirin said in Primitive weapons:
half health. double magic damage. double physical damage. etc.
Please dont
Being one shotted from invis would be no fun in full loot game.
those weren't 1 set of rules for a world. those can be each rules. that's why i used the period and not a comma.
@asspirin said in Primitive weapons:
@Jetah allright, but then what would change - it takes 2 hours to build a house, 1 hour to make primitive equipment ... if knowledge was persistent, this would only reset economy...which would start way faster, as everyone would know what to do and also would start "at max lvl". This would change things....for day or two
Mmos like this probably should remain persistent imo.
the character and knowledge would be persistent. Crowfall will try to do just that--persistent character and knowledge with having worlds that are temporary. it prevents (or suppose to) big guilds from owning and completely dominating others for years. Eve Online had that problem with B.O.B. There's speculation that some of the Eve Online developers actually join these mega alliances to try to break them up.
Crowfall can have multiple worlds going simultaneously while offering each world with different play rules. IE 1 death and you're removed from the world. double or even triple resources. higher rare materials but lower common. half health. double magic damage. double physical damage. etc.
@asspirin said in How will be decided which group takes a farming spot on Arboreus (animal planet)?:
@Razvan WasnΒ΄t it stated, that Arboreus is world rich on resources and Tartaros has very few of them? Furries should have no problems and demons will probably rape each other...or one (the biggest) demon guild will absorb everyone as they will have no competition - making whole demon world one coordinated guild ... sounds terrifying
sounds fun (either way)
Equipment should be easily replacable.
that's my thing, if it's easily replaceable then it shouldnt jump so much from tier 1 to tier 2.
it would suck to be a new player, not in a guild know nothing about the game, and run against 1 other player with steel or better gear while using sticks. you'll already do 20% or less damage, wont have the knowledge to do extra damage, wont have the gear to reduce or increase your damage. it's a lose-lose system for new players. that to me isn't really horizontal.
@Razvan
to me horizontal is any new player can win against a veteran if skill is the same. but an automatic 20% damage difference between the starter crafts and steel is just too much. now i'd play a test to actually see how bad that difference is but as asspirin mentioned it's much more than what you'd get with skills.
