you can hold left mouse to move the camera around the character while the character travels in any direction. the LMB won't change the direction the character travels in. I can look directly at the face of the character while they're moving. it's difficult to move that way but it's possible.

@jetah is not the same. in wow you rotate the char around to turn the camera. in that game you turn the camera around the char. the fulcrum is different on wow is fized on the char. in that game it's 360° around the char, with the char in the middle
both games the camera is fixed on the character. different being isometric doesn't have z axis changes.

RE: The PvE vs PvP Thread
yeah we don't know what percent of Arboreus will be safe. I'm hoping for 50% or less. but I can see 10-25% but with limited invasion times, ie 1 a month or once a game year.

RE: Rotatable Camera?
@finland did you have a problem moving the camera in WoW?

@jetah I'm the one that hate play games in my native language. I hope to see everything in english and a normal chat where everyone talks what they want :). Translation should be an option for those who want it. Don't you think so? It's an opportunity to learn a lang, well that's what I think
this game should have 1 server. will you learn all of the languages? translation allows you to roughly communicate to someone in a language you don't know. it isn't like googles voice translation.

@jetah nice vide But I think I'll suffer motion sickness
it's different when you control the camera vs watching it. and i'm using A/D to move it instead of the middle mouse button. I don't have problem when I'm playing the game but I haven't put much time into it.

An auto-translate feature for the game chat using the Google Translation APIs (or other services of the kind) is a nice idea, but I wouldn't call it a high-priority feature. We'll consider that for when the game approaches full release!
I don't like it so if you plan to implement it I would like an option to turn it off
in FFXIV you had to use backets of some type to start the word/phrase translation. what appeared on your screen was your local language, what appeared on my screen was english. It wasn't a full sentence but more words and phrases.
here's a link to the auto-translate wiki for FFXIV. There is a huge list! https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Auto-Translator
Fractured would add Races, locations and phrases specific to it. Like "demon invasion", "stargate is opening", "Hide yo children, hide yo wives the demons coming", etc.

RE: The PvE vs PvP Thread
I believe the idea is it's a 'holy' area and 'evil' can't enter. I hate common areas for multiple factions that have no pvp. Dalaran, Shatt were horrible places. I understand the 'neutral' aspect but it's annoying none the less.

RE: Rotatable Camera?
i posted a link to a small twitch stream moving the camera in Wolcen.

RE: Rotatable Camera?
it depends on how the secret passage is hidden. if the wall highlights red and it's easily noticeable then yeah a rotating camera won't help. but if the passage looks just like the rest of the area then having a rotating camera could be nice.
I had never played an isometric game with it and thought it was neat when I did try it. I didn't realize there was a game that old with it already.
I think more about pvp with regard to Fractured than pve. So my suggestions will be biased toward that. If the devs wanted to they could lock the camera for certain activities but leave it unlocked for outdoor pvp.

RE: The PvE vs PvP Thread
@Finland and according to devs and the spotlight, there are sacred places where evil cannot enter. That leads me to believe some of the planet won't be accessible to evil aligned players.
@EvolGrinZ ^. I'll speculate that 25-50% of the planet will be safe for beastkin.
@Finland We don't know what part of the planet will be safe for beastkin. and we have insurance to cover things in RL. I'm wanting to speculate that Fractured will have easy accessible gear, especially for the beastkin who won't be pvping all the time.
@Miffi there is a pre-alpha happening now, or at least there's some internal testing.
I believe there will be some planet wide notification when demons invade. I really hope to see many of the beastkin there to push back the demons.

RE: The PvE vs PvP Thread
there's limited pvp on the pve planet. it isn't 100% no pvp, that's all i'm trying to say. I want to go there for the challenge, either solo, a group or a raid. to me it'll be fun watching the post on the forums about how the beast planet was invaded and they assumed it couldn't happen.
I'd love to fight beastkin on their planet or human or demon. to me it's all equal and there are no innocents nor is there any griefing. if you're outside of the area where demons can't enter then expect to fight. to me it's that plain.
it's possible that Arboreus is 75% protected, it's possible it's 50% or even 90% protected.

RE: Rotatable Camera?
if you saw it, that's all that matters. I could post it here so others can watch but that's about it.

@finland said in The PvE vs PvP Thread:
@jetah I never said you can't travel there I'm just telling you that your idea of "invasion" will not happen.
As per Spotlight #1:
Since the Fracture, demons have developed an evergrowing contempt towards beastmen and humans alike, and so did their god. Maddened by revenge, Babilis gave its progeny the ability to travel to other planets way more easily than humans and beastmen can do, allowing them to spread death and chaos to Syndesia and Arboreus. These travels of horrors can’t be permanent, however, as the demon body gets debilitated over time, eventually forcing them to return home.
that means demons can invade Arboreus. Just like my idea of an invasion.
@Miffi Demons don't give a flying pancake about bullies or being nice. they want to spread chaos and death, they don't care where. Sure they may be debuffed but with enough of them raiding it might not matter. Again I'll say griefing doesn't happen when you know it's possible to be in a PvP scenario anytime outside of the protected areas.

RE: Rotatable Camera?
i use A and D to move it just as easily. when you hit an area to the left and it's a long pathway, you can rotate the camera so the character is running 'north' toward the top of the screen. I may get on twitch and stream a bit of it to show you.
-
RE: The PvE vs PvP Thread
@finland demons can invade, Arboreus, it won't be immune to pvp. as per the links posted by @Logain.
@Miffi demons are able to invade Arboreus just like Logain linked. If it's part of the core game play then you can expect to be hunted and maybe killed on the PvE planet. It isn't completely immune to PvP.

i would actually prefer a locked camera. if the game's combat system is going to be like an arpg like they have said before, the camera should be similar too. being in locked camera would also give the player a better immersive experience.
Problem is people who are moving south don't have the fov that those moving north have, thus giving an advantage to the southerners moving north. with a rotating camera, those moving south can see just as much as those moving north.
@Finland Wolcen there aren't many videos where we see the camera rotating.
