The planets will surely have different soundtracks, though there's still some work to do before we can dive deeper into it. Generally speaking, Diablo II would be a good reference, especially for Tartaros tracks. Arboreus is going to be a bit more Symphonic, in a chilled way (think of Oblivion, King and Country has the right sound) and Syndesia will be much more Epic and a little "victorian" (battle in the sky - Walid Feghali but a bit darker). By the way, this is to be taken with a grain of salt, things may change during the process.

      @jetah

We'll surely consider that, it will mostly depends on the final quality of our soundtrack, it will be easier to evaluate once we have the first drafts 🙂

they were found randomly, so I'm not holding it against you or DS if you decide to not use them.

Good to hear the planets will offer different styles of music. I'd love a behind the music sheet video showing how it was created and performed! I loved the Blizzcon section on the music. Wildstar had a few videos going behind the scenes and watching it being created and played, it was amazing to see the work and results of that work.

I'll be the one writing and recording the first part of the soundtrack, after the KS we'll have some tracks written by some musicians I usually work with. Mix and Master will mostly depend on our funds after Kickstarter 🙂

oh, can you pre-release a track or two on soundcloud? I'd suggest trying to release a soundtrack album also on soundcloud. This could be an early acquired backer tier in KS then released later on to the public post release.

I asked because I found a person via reddit that created some royalty free music and I suggested they hit up some Kickstarter and Indiegogo video game campaigns to try to get their music out there. I'm not sure how well they do because my hearing is messed up with construction work so I'd leave that to those with better ears.

    • RE: How do you feel about transmog system for fractured?

When people go to a bar they don't know the skills of other people. They don't know if someone is a great boxer or if another is top 10 MMA in the state or local area, they don't know if someone has a gun or a knife or if a person is completely passive.

A transmog shouldn't let anyone know exactly what the character does. If I hate 2h axes I should have the ability to change the visual to a 2h mace or sword. I don't see my 2h being seen as a sword n board nor a dual dagger or hatchet.

This is an open world pvp with a knowledge style skill system. We shouldn't know if the character is a fire caster or water caster or if they're a necro (aside from the obvious risen dead). We shouldn't know if the person is great with swords or axes or a shield. The transmog system could give resistance from just jumping a character. Not knowing if the character is melee or a caster is big for both parties.

I'd love to see some plate enemies wearing cloth and has a staff transmog instead of a 2h weapon. I'd file it under the 'it's magic that makes their armor look like cloth' it could be a perception skill check or have a skill that can pierce through the deception. I'd love an easy system to swap looks, I'd hate to need to create a new piece of gear to get it imbued with the new look.

I'd love to see dyes that are found and/or crafted. I'd entertain the idea that there's a profession dedicated to transmog and dyes.

i think i was autocorrected. resources won't give more power off planet.
but end game content for me for Fractured will be PvP. I don't need all 400 abilities at rank 3 for that.

It allows the developers to sell something other than items. I love that Path of Exile has so many items it can sell that's cosmetic only. It could be used to change the GFX of skills also.

@muker People wore cloth hoods and cloaks to conceal plate and chainmail armor for centuries.

@FibS but Fractured doesn't have 'classes' nor do I see it having armor restrictions based on skills or abilities. If you want to wear plate and be a caster, sure, but your stats may be reduced because of it.

      @ildirettore

only way is to rank up the forums if you don't want to play. sorry but free isn't really free, it cost someone something. In this case it'd cost the developers. DS wants quality people in their testing instead of someone who'll 'play' the game for a week then move on.

And it was said that the resources on other planets would give more power. Again it’s pointless to travel if there isn’t a use for those resources.

If one country doesn’t have stone they don’t make items that need it.

Maybe the planet resources change the visual of the item then I could see them being wanted.

If they don’t put tiers of resources, even it’s just a minimum of 2, then what point, other than skills, would a beastkin leave the protected area? I believe the protected are will have resources because it gives the natives something to do during an invasion.

I still see the worlds being built with at least two tiers. Tier one will be toward the inner areas proabably where people will spawn. Tier two will be placed where invaders will teleport in to promote conflict. Now the areas where these are could be half the planet or maybe there will be a void between them.

I mean, personally, I don’t want developer created gambling in game. With regards to putting gold or other currency with a chance to gain more.

I posted an example of this universe, this world removing gambling from a game.

Right now the DS company is based on Italy so they’d have follow their laws.

Also casinos don’t bypass laws. One aspect to gambling is cashing out which is what you described.

So, no one else can write and you tweak? No one else can can do most of the writing and you modify it as needed then publish it?

This early on, everyone else on the team is probably busy developing the game, and there's no point hiring a community manager for a game this early in development, before they've even acquired funding (hence the "after kickstarter"). As CEO he's likely the only person with flexible enough duties to get it done, but he's still been too busy.

I never said hire a community manager. Anyone could write the bulk of the article where Prometheus can tweak it. It’d be much better than waiting till he has time to write it.

Although it would be possible for Prometheus to write it at home or parts of it here and there.

but its just ... somehow ... you know ... naruto and sasuke were so overpowered in the end

      so new enemies even stronger

      its like in dragon ball

      the biggest enemy was defeated
      wow there is another one

That's how it works though. If you started boxing, there'd always be someone better than you. Even when you reach the top, someone else is training wanting to take that title from you. It's also difficult to have a story about fighting when the main character is the best and no new enemies to fight.

@fibs It honestly depends on how big the worlds are. If each planet is the max size of 41 square miles (just over 100 square kilometers) then it's possible that there are enough dungeons that instances aren't needed. The mobs inside could setup as personal loot so anyone participating and stays within a certain range is awarded something from the loot table.

      Spam will be everywhere.

@Logain I do believe the worlds will be setup with resources in tiers. I doubt the developers would put tier 10 (or whatever the highest tier will be) resources in the spawn areas. Generally you do want to persuade the population to venture out and to do that you have higher tiered resources further away.

@tulukaruk there are open world bosses that do have pvp around them. WoW doesn't have open dungeons.

@Finland No! I'm not talking about those mobs. Pre-Legion event had 4 waves of NPCs Legion demons that would invade a specific area. Anyone from level 1 to 100 could attack the mobs. Everyone participating was awarded loot based on their level. First wave was minor minions, second wave high a few mini-bosses, third had mostly mini-bosses and the final wave had 1 major boss. There were horde and alliance, some flagged most not, participating in the events because it was the best way to level.

sure I totally understand that he is busy and I WANT him to be busy on funding and working on the game. but if your going to be too busy to put together updates (which is ok), them please don't tease us that updates are coming.

just to be clear I would rather he work on the game than write about working on the game 🙂

however we need some new stuffs to talk about as I am getting sick of reading finland and jetah argue about instanced dungeons...

hey!? But I agree, I kind of hate it myself.

@Prometheus So, no one else can write and you tweak? No one else can can do most of the writing and you modify it as needed then publish it?
There's more than one way to get information out. Being CEO is about thinking of ways when those ways don't exist.

@Ildirettore @Gibbx @Finland They are indeed working hard. As you probably know, Prometheus was very busy the last few weeks with securing funding for Fractured. He was originally going to reveal more details about it this week, but due to an unforeseen issue, he'll probably reveal those details next week instead. As for the spotlight, due to all the work that went into securing said funding, he hasn't been able to finish the spotlight yet. I have no further information about the gameplay footage, other than that it's being worked on.

Have someone else write it and get Prometheus to approve it. I know he's busy but this is setting some bad president.

@jetah you are right I have played only one week of legion to maximize my main (I really prefer vanilla over everything, that game gets ruined year by year). Anyway mobs that scales on a player level is different than mobs scaling for each player hittin that mob. If nothing changed mobs still work with the tag system. So the 1st player (fastest) will lock the mob to him or his party/raid. Anyway offering both solutions will make everyone happy. I really don't see your point of view. How instaced thingy could ruin your ideological game?

pre-legion mobs had hundreds hitting on them. it's possible fractured could have personal loot for open world dungeons/bosses, much like WoW has for the world bosses (as well as the pre-legion event). This allowed everyone who healed other players or attacked the boss to get something. of course there could be pvp during or after the bosses death but who knows.
