Normally, the term would indicate that if a third person gets in the line of fire between you and the target, the ray/projectile/hit no longer hits the target, but that third person. If I can aim anywhere and deal damage to anything in that line (friendly fire), I could easily kill a Beastman as Beastman?

      It means exactly that, but as I've said, you can avoid it by grouping with your friends. If you have a Good alignment, you also can't hurt other players with Good / Neutral alignment - this includes friendly fire. Since Beastmen are Good, they can't hurt each other. It was mentioned in this spotlight :slight_smile:

      @Zefireq @Eletze animations and the UI are really temporary, as I've mentioned elsewhere. They will be both remade from scratch :slight_smile: There will be a minimap, too. Same goes for several particle effects. Don't focus too much on the graphics department, it's a pre-alpha! ๐Ÿ™‚

      can we try the game out without a minimap? i think it gimps the players and doesn't have any lore reasons for being there.

      I have absolutely no reason to prove anything to you; whatever you say and think, you're still going to get mad that Fractured doesn't let you pathetically pick fights you can't lose, you're still going to leave the game because you actually need to be skilled to PK in it, and the rest of us will still keep playing a game that's better without you there.

      I'm going to tag @Finland too because he said full pvp game can't be an mmo. well Eve Online would like to have a talk to both of you. Eve is alive because of the pvp.

      you don't always need months to test. sure it may help but i bet most people will just play and not actually submit reports of stuff broken.

      Right now Camelot Unchained isn't doing 24/7 testing to the public. they offer a few hours on the weekend and that's it.

      can't use characters outside of the alphabet. DS can put certain phrases and words on a ban list so they can't be used. if someone manages to bypass the filter, a player could report said item to get it changed.

      there are people who Role Play and this gives them something to get immersed. filters can be used while players could report the offending names to get them changed. I see character customization more in the abilities you equip and knowledge you unlock and not how you look.

      do i assume that could consist of a friday - sunday (or monday) testing length? Offer a monday-wed or wed-fri to those that work weekend shifts.

      • it's in pre-alpha. this means it's more of a technical demo. they ask 'can we do this' then figured out ways to do just that. other effects will be added.
      • i love the no minimap. I looked at the cooldown effects and love them. sure seconds would be nice but it's unique and I like it for that. They've already said in a spotlight that the number of skills would be limited. damage number detract from the game (and it's pre-alpha)
      • it's pre-alpha. you're expecting some more polished which could be called a beta.

      There is full collision between any type of creature (players included, in the same party and not). SpatialOS makes it possible! However, we might tweak the rules here too. Alpha testing will tell whether it's really feasible on a large scale or not.

      if you ignore player collision then people/groups will become 1 death ball. Think of an RTS where you can move 100 units on top of each other. If there's player collision then creating choke points is useful, death balls are less; also still deadly, and would cause tactics to be necessary (at least I'm hoping).

      I played Tera and 90% of the cosmetics are from RNG boxes. There are a few versions of the cosmetics out of the box but the stats are worse or the color is different. Stats aside, I hate knowing the only way to get an item is via RNG box. Only thing helping Tera is RNG cosmetics can be sold on the market, so this somewhat helps those that wont gamble to get what they want.

      I'd much prefer a red, yellow, green, gold, silver or bronze robe in the shop for 3$ than Robe RNG box for 50ยข ea. Only because the odds of getting the robe I want is slim and the developers never mention it's a 1% chance to get it.

      not really what this topic is about. We have a nice long P2W thread which you can use.

      I'm wanting to know if DS will have more RNG boxes or if it's just contained in the Foundation. I have no problems with your opinion on RNG boxes but P2W stuff isn't what I want to chat about.

      problem is the more unique you make a character the more the client has to make it look unique, which means the hardware requirements are higher.

      how many times do you look at other characters and remember their eye color or how their hair is fixed, most characters wear a helm all the time (depending on cosmetic/transmog).

      If you want a broader Audience

      i think it's better that DS focuses on the type of person they want and don't design the game to appeal to everyone.

      i dont like them in games aimed at adults. it's ironic but i dont mind Overwatch. I guess it's because the boxes are earned at each level and they're pretty easy to get.

      As Finland said, we can't give you an exact estimate of how many players we will get in the pre-alpha (so "more than 100 and less than 1000 is a good answer eheh).

      As for the level you need, the answer is more complex than that. Players with top ranking will get in for sure, but other factors such as high community engagement will be considered as well even if you're not in the top XXX of The Foundation :slight_smile:

      would love to be in the top XXX of The Foundation... for reasons.

      problem is, why would a developer put items up for sale for a static price when they can get people hooked on gambling addiction. it's already been proven that people spend more on RNG boxes than not.

      give most people a chance at a 'high value item' and they'll take it over a static priced item.
