      @jetah mercenary or just a few small guilds in alliance.... there should be, IMO, no limit for big fights.

      only problem I can see is when one guild or alliance becomes the biggest and starts to conquer everything. This happened in Eve Online a few times. People hate being on the losing side with zero chance to win so they'd join the big zerg guild just to be winners all the time.

      if sieges are capped at a player limit then it's harder for one guild to 'own' everything.

      the initial planets will be generated but will remain static after that.

      @Mereni
      planets will be procedurally generated then will remain static. We'll have Asteroids as procedurally generated content. DS hasn't explained it well so that's about all we know.
      It was mentioned that the planets will be just regular square/rectangle maps and not real spheres.

      @jetah I didn't mean that players would make stories literaly.. Developers make a story (but it would be nice to interact with community and listen to good ideas) and players decide what kind of actions they want to take in that part. That can be just following the onging story like reading newspaper or it can be fully interact with it.. I meant like some kind of non-stop ongoing realtime life.. not just like mmo mining goods, making weapons and fight other people..

      it'll take the developers a year to create content that we'll blow through in a few weeks.

      Sandbox restrictions bother me the most

      i'm curious which restrictions you speak of.

      I'm with you on that one. I'd prefer more of a camouflage than actual stealth. However I'm ok with illusions, for some odd reason.

      @lastpsych
      depends on how you plan to play. Fractured has 3 starting planets that offer 3 different play styles. PvP, PvX and PvE. If you're completely new to the MMORPG theme then I'd suggest trying out Path of Exile for a little bit to get custom to the isometric view. PoE is free so it won't hurt to try it out.

      Since you play FPS then you're probably use to PvP encounters so you could just right in the PvP planet of Tartaros where (speculation here) it's a wild west. The players make the rules!

    • RE: Joining a Siege without being required to join the Guild.

      @benseine

      i'm just wanting a system so that i'm not required to leave my guild to join another just to assist a defense or offense. I want to stay in my guild but still assist those that pay the most.

      With this system a temporary text channel could be created too for communication between them. Although I'm sure people will be using Discord.

      @tulukaruk

      i'm not creating a full scenario here. if the defenders want to pay then they can. if they want to offer discounts on goods they create they can. that's the beauty of a sandbox!

      I do believe there will be sieges to towns where they can be taken over. at least that should be an additional feature post-release.

      The only games i knew that didn't have a grind were platform games from the 80's and 90's. Any game with a RPG title will have a grind. That's just a fact.

      But it's quicker to play the content than to create and balance it. If players create the content, like a true sandbox, then it's unlimited in creation.

      @Prometheus would have to tell us the total land mass size of each planet.

    • RE: “player” run?

      tagging @Shadowphoenix too

      What we know right now. We'll automagically know some basic crafts and combat. (speculation here) Merchants may sell reagents that are required for crafting. I can see them selling basic tier consumables like water and stale bread.

      Each player have to gather and craft the basic stuff then get an advanced crafter to make better tiered gear (this is speculation as how I imagine it).

      There will be city based auction houses but nothing that will connected all 3 planets. You'll have to venture from town to town to see what's being offered. This also makes for a courier profession and trader profession.

      @vicious

      Fractured will have Asteroids which will be procedurally generated content. How this works, we don't know but this is how DS will reuse the procedurally generation outside of the planets we have.

      I'd assume the ownership of the land/castle was more valuable than the contents of the chest.

      ArcheAge had castle sieges but were limited to 50v50, iirc. This allowed more people to enjoy the content. However, it also put a requirement of guilds needing 50 people online at the time of a siege. If Fractured could code in a Mercenary sub-set of a guild then it could allow small guilds to recruit outside help without inviting them into the guild.

    • Joining a Siege without being required to join the Guild.

      While writing a reply to City Conquering done wrong in Albion thread, I had an idea on how individual people or groups or guilds could participate in castle sieges without the need to join the guild. Usually after the siege you see people leaving the guild.

      Most games require you to join a guild to participate in a siege or defense. What's bad about this is you have to leave the guild you're in to join the other guild. What if there was a way that allowed a guild or group to help in a castle/city siege without needed to directly join the guild. What if there was a sub-guild feature that individuals could use. It would work similar to an Alliance but be temporary.

      Lets say a castle is being sieged. The defending guild has 20 rl friends of which 10 can be on. A siege requires 50 so they're short 40. They make a post in town or other cities requesting Mercenaries to help defend their castle. Those that volunteer are enlisted as a side-guild (or sub-guild) so they can stay in their own guild. Now that the defense has 50 people they can defend their castle.

      Lets say in the same siege the ones wanting to siege the castle have 40 and are short 10. They request the aid from @WhoAteTheCat's guild to assist in capturing the castle. Glims Mercenaries is able to assist and the 10 can join the siege without needing to leave their guild.

      @specter

      correct, I'm not an employee of DS. Thus what I say isn't an official statement by my own observation. I did my best to not state it as fact but I used the word believe which implies an opinion.

    • RE: AFK activity in game ? (ex: fishing)

      @grofire

      I knew you were going to say that.

      I've played games since ultima online back in late '90's and console games before that. I've learned a few things along the way. I've played Crowfall which doesn't have any active leveling, similar to Fractured, and the grind is getting gear. I imagine that everyone can craft basic gear and to get beyond that you need a dedicated crafter (how this will work? I don't know, but I can speculate). That crafter will need resources which I imagine everyone can gather basic tier resources but we'll need a dedicated harvester (how this will work? I don't know, but I can speculate).

      We have harvesting and crafting but what about the person that doesn't want to do that, the pure fighter. They'll need currency to buy gear. How do that get that? They'll have to kill humanoid mobs that drop currency or be hired for protection by a gatherer.

      This same system is in Crowfall right now. When you've been around a while you learn a few things. With critical thinking you can understand concepts without being told.
