RNG is a way to mask a lack of real content by increasing repetition; in short, RNG makes bad systems look better. In the process, RNG devalues a player's time and effort.

so you can look at people on the street (obviously not right now) and know what they have in their pockets? i dont know everything women keep in their purse but i'm sure 50% will be different in each one.

    • RE: [Wiki] Info box upgrade

different items should have different pages so item popups can be used.

example of wowwiki scroll down to the specialization and hover over the spells and you'll see a popup for each spell. now that popup can be added to any place where that spell is mentioned. the same can be done for every piece of gear. it's great for guides so the author doesn't have to mention each spell/item as the popup helps.

alpha is getting the mechanics in, beta is for balancing. at least that's how i've understood it.
yeah, there might be a few more mechanics added in beta but all combat, city, crafting should be in alpha.

they can have forest. they can keep the timer the same. only problem i can see is the click to move would completely fuck people if they were fighting in a forest (unless there's a harvest mode' which prevents harvesting).

i've played crowfall and they have forest and all trees can be harvested.

@Razvan said in Have you noticed also?:

Well, application development life cycle changed a lot over the years; and since it was never a standard, you can't expect companies to act the same.

it changed when developers.. or publishers, realized people would pay to test the product thus saving on internal QA. that's when the public had access to alpha - release. now they produce a beta and market it as 'alpha'. but when a real alpha comes around people complain that there isn't anything to do and it's buggy.

@r6G4596Y7G9AwD0TzJTxFSZx Sorry mate you miss the point here...

We're not paying 90+ 150+ euro to consume something. That apparently is your mentality right now at least.

      that's how consumers think!

    • RE: Have you noticed also?

a problem is the development stages are different for some companies. Blizzard puts out an Alpha but it's more like a Beta. I've seen Wolcen release and it was more like Internal Testing (It could have been considered Alpha but...).

Second problem is people wont do any research on their own. they'll see a game and instantly go to a forum (facebook, reddit, official forum) to post about instead of getting youtube, reading any official news post, etc. Just look at how many "omg this looks like a great game, should i get it" to "how's the game, is it fun, what can i do right now". that tells me they haven't read a single thing about it. then there's the problem of "if it's longer than a tweet, can you tl;dr".

abilities, to me, are the skills used. otherwise it say 'ability group'. unless Marksmanship was a group of skills in the last test.

oh, seems your comment after might have cleared something up.

Alright, but I still don't see what's the problem.

it's a skill name change. i assume they were referring to a skill not a group of skills.

if i saw hunter as the name of the skill i wouldn't have an idea of what it did.

@Xzait said in Ideas you thought your were great but turned out not to be?:

But it shouldn't seem like a chore. Whether it is done or not is completely up to you. You don't HAVE to do them every day.

but you actually do. typically you'll fall behind in whatever is being traded for your time. whether it's gold, reputation, gear, azerite, etc. if you dont do them then you're behind those that are doing it every day.

one example i can give is World of Warcraft during the Dranor expansion. the Garrison was giving away millions of gold over the course of the expansion. if you missed it or opted out (like I did by not playing the expansion) then you lost that which gave you a huge advantage for any content afterwards. the inflation hit hard and the cost of items more than tripled over that expansion.

dailies shouldn't feel like a chore but you'll easily skip the harder or longer timed ones. Fractured isn't suppose to have any grind (however the developers envision it) so we shouldn't have any.

watch any of the previous vod to see if the current gameplay is for you. then read all of the NEWS on the main page to see if the concept is something you're interesting in.

if developers need daily mechanics then they should just work on the game itself to keep me occupied. i dont want a second job that i have to pay for.

    • RE: Map clarity

      @Razvan
see the problem is the map is always detailed enough and nothing is a surprise because 'internet'. I've played UO back in the day and the map was horrible, the cartography sucked but it was great because 'no one knew anything' and wiki's and 'lets play' videos didn't exist. hell i dont remember any meta builds but i think some existed.

i've played games since UO (back in the late 90's), DAoC, Rift, WoW, Wildstar, Horizons (it's something else now), Eve Online, and a few which i've forgotten. i've played a wide array of games over the years so i do speak from experience but also fill in some gaps with assumptions.

you dont believe it's constructive because we wont agree with you. i love taking different perspectives on topics and im taking the point of 'minimap shouldn't exist' and 'it shouldn't be detailed like a moba'. if a detailed minimap exist then it should be tied to a profession. in retrospect, i think minimaps make the games easier to play. in Diablo and PoE i watch the minimap more than the actual game because of previously stated reason.

    • RE: Suggestion: Different spells have different armor requirements

@asspirin said in Suggestion: Different spells have different armor requirements:

@Jetah devs stated there WILL be paladin-like classes (for example Restoration school spells will be castable in plate), however mana costs will probably be big. Also you CAN melee in light armour (with mage armour etc.), so what´s the big deal.

There´s already topic about "why cant i be glass cannon in full plate with no downside?

      1. Glass cannon in full plate and shield is no longer glass, only tanky cannon.
      2. If wearing heavier armour would affect spell damage, you would suck as mage; if it would affect cd, you would have to manage to nuke enemy down with combo, if not, you would suck as mage; if it would give you huge malus on mana cost, you wouldn´t last very long - you would suck as mage.

Balance point of view - you´re either Tank, DPS or anything between, but not both. Everyone can use any ability and any talent, so only way to further balance is restriction via armour. Same with shields (no offensive spells with shields).

paladins also have offensive spells too! just because you can wear plate and heal doesn't mean you're a paladin.
i want the option to build my character however i want, which might be a mage in plate. or a hybrid melee-caster or pure something.

i love the caster tank (think warlock in WoW during Cata) and the melee mage (think Death Knight also in WoW). with the current system the DK wont exist because 'no casting in plate'. it might be possible to have a caster that drains life and has a type of castable armor (which is ironic that plate casters can't cast a spell to grant them some bonus) which slightly turns the playstyle from range caster to mid range caster to maybe front line cast-tank.
