there's a hardline with balancing CC. I hate not having a chance to defend myself when jumped. I guess it comes down to how much CC and TTK for me.

Citadel
interesting. but it isn't advertised as an MMO.

RE: Bit worried where the Kickstarter is
@holyhong said in Bit worried where the Kickstarter is:
I am not angry with devs at all, still supporting it, but it feels like Kickstarter promotion was and still is a bit underestimated by the devs.
this seems to be a key thing. I believe DS was looking at the 31,000 accounts registered and assumed at least 50% would be putting down some cash. They ignored the sub 200 active accounts.
There are mentors and companies that help with KS campaigns to be successful, maybe DS can look into it next time if this campaign is short.
honestly I believe skipping KS, should it fail, and just sell the backer packs on their website. sure they'll lose the merchant fee but they'll get a constant flow of cash as people see ads. DS could post sales during holidays where certain individual addons are cheaper or include more Dynamight Gold. They could also post some packages in limited quantities separated from the other packs.

i hope not. i hate having a job outside of having a job.

@flamerunner Thank you!
the game is more like a sandbox.
guild memories will be capturing a fort/keep/city. it'll be defending a gatherer or defending a trader. you'll build a village then turn it into a city while defending it. if you want to RP then you can do that.
if your guild wants to infiltrate another to overtake it then you can do that.

@holyhong said in Will there be Community Servers or only Official Servers?:
If this question was already asked, my apologies.
People asked me if there are community servers planned in Fracture?
Without community servers (and only official servers) there most probably won't be decent roleplaying possbile which is for some people (as for me) very important.
what recent game offered personal servers?

RE: Toon Colouring.
@sunti said in Toon Colouring.:
You'll be able to choose from a defined set of colours, depending on which race you're going to choose. For exemple for a tiger-kin you'll have colours ranging from white to orange, some different shades of grey and so on, demon will vary a lot (slaggish greens, reds, in general a lot of dull shades of various colours). There will be no electric blues or bright pinks, sorry
There will be dyes too, not only obtainable through the cosmetics store but also inside the game. Dyes will be used for armors, so they are a different matter
I hate dyes as a costly fiat consumable but what about fur/skin dye? make it temporary around a month real time, similar to those temp hair dyes, and the item is consumed. Personally I'd prefer to not see these in the cash shop but could be rewarded during events! During a Valentines event we could have pink temporary dye! Green during St. Patrick's, etc.

RE: Now think Clearly Here
problem is if DS limits number of members in a guild then the guild will be multiple guilds. iirc we have alliances so they'll just create an alliance.
only thing I know that will stop zergs is FF. if FF is done right, which is difficult.

RE: Lore or snore...
@zidroc
depends if the developers make it glow or not. Now if it changes after someone reads it then it'd be entertaining. -

@nightcoder said in Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!:
@jetah I'd personally be more inclined to open my wallet if it's presented as a donation to keep servers up and devs working, with some cosmetics benefits as a thank you gesture. Basically it's the same thing but the presentation shifts the focus to what's important and the true reason for paying.
that's basically what VIP is for. they'll make more off the cosmetic shop than VIP though.
Path of Exile has no subscription and makes millions a year.

RE: Will beta 2 be an open beta?
usually beta # is the tier of access. Usually there's an open beta then everyone is invited regardless if they've backed or not.
right now Camelot Unchained has Alpha through Beta 1 in their current test.

RE: Fractured app
One thing I could see having as an app is a way to set learning slots or if there's a type of manufacturing.

RE: Lore or snore...
I'd prefer more out of game lore. books & comics, both can be print and online. Then reference the material in game with item creation flavor text and books, statues, tablets in game.

hi, i'm new in this game (i subscribed just 3 mins ago) whitch are the classes? like rogue, warrior, hunter, mage... and so on. thanks for the help!
click on the Foundation text. then click on the News at the top. There you'll learn about the game and systems Fractured will have. Then click on About then on FAQ.

RE: Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!
@fibs said in Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!:
Right now the main reason I haven't pledged anything isn't something Fractured has control over - it's that Kickstarter doesn't accept Paypal. You have to put in your card directly.
My bank is currently giving me hassles with said card and it can't be used directly in transactions, so I can't pledge thru Kickstarter.
Can you get a prepaid credit card just for this?
@nightcoder said in Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!:
Hi! I'm considering pledging for early immortal (for alpha 1 and dev forum access). Right now my three major concerns are business oriented so I'll understand if you prefer not to answer.
-
The low Kickstarter goal - While it is logical to begin with a relatively low amount to increase the odds of the KS succeeding, €116K is at best 10% of what's needed for an ambitious project like this. I'm sure there's a plan on how to get the remaining funds but I'd presume that if it were solid there wouldn't be a need for a KS anyway. I am pretty sure that the game will reach alpha but there's a long way from that to release so I do hesitate a little bit to spend €300 if I'm not at least somehow confident that it will eventually go out of beta.
-
Maintenance - By its very nature an MMORPG needs to be maintained even after release and that also costs money - at the very least you need to pay to keep the servers up and running and eventually you also need to continue development (e.g. more areas, quests etc) so people continue playing. B2P is great for the players, after all everyone prefers to pay once, but that also means that there's no continuous stream of funds. The VIP membership is probably meant to cover that but I'm not sure that enough people will pay monthly for cosmetics, which may force a switch to other income models such as a paid subscription, expansion packs (i.e. only a subset of the world / quests is available to free players) or the dreaded P2W. It would help if we knew what is considered the least evil in this case. Basically I want to know that I'll be able to play the game for a long time.
-
The use of the third part Spatial OS - I'm trying to read a little bit about it on Improbable's website but I haven't been able to figure out whether developers can run their own servers or whether they're forced to use Improbable's cloud servers, or in other words - How will the game be affected if they run out of business.
-
the game will offer a cosmetic cash shop that with VIP should sustain it.
-
DS can host their own or rent. Improbable offers both. I'm not saying Improbable will go out of business but they are leasing their software as a service with an option to self host if the company needs it. I doubt they'll just be gone.

RE: Stats / Characters retained from Beta / Alpha
patch to patch there could be wipes. expect the worst that every day you decide to test, there will be a wipe.
