open alpha doesn't exist but when pre-alpha exist you'll need to be high level Foundation to possibly get it.
basically the game isn't playable in any form right now.

Really think they need to move some of the rewards such as pets mounts armours down some lvls to start at lowest tier and work up, and build more into the higher tiers. Why purchase a low tier now when you dont know much about the game, for the cool per armour etc you can get for it.
usually the lower tiers are just getting access to the game cheaper than waiting for release.
@Prometheus One thing I noticed about the KS campaign is you didn't mention much about the planets. You didn't mention that each planet would offer a specific play style. It seemed more implied but not really stated. IE: HUMANS - TOTAL FREE WILL could have mentioned that Syndesia is the PvX planet where both PvE and PvP take place. You didn't mention the other 2 either. I didn't see the invasions mentioned on the Demon section.
the world doesn't change. just like Earth doesn't change during your lifetime.
World of Warcraft is almost 14 years old and it hasn't changed. Note that there was a change because of a specific expansion but the layout stayed the same.
In Eve Online if you fully strip an asteroid belt it'll just respawn. Most harvestable resources will respawn unless the game mechanics prevent it.
@mazikar said in Why MMO if you like to Solo?:
Most if not all MMOs enjoy constant updates and revolving content. You can in most cases find things to do solo, then crafting systems if done correctly can facilitate a solo type player experience. There are many facets of MMORPGs that can enjoy a fairly light social aspect. Lack luster MMORPGs make you play them. Awesome MMORPGs let you play them.
I disagree that crafting should be doable solo. I'd much prefer specialization than 'everyone can do everything equally well'.
no info about this that i'm aware of. it would be odd to see Fractured not having it but I'm open to surprises.
only pvp-free areas are those protected by game mechanics. which are mostly on the Beastkin planet.
Just believe that venturing out beyond any city walls/fence means you'll fight another player.

Becuase I was burned big time by this:

It's always a great feeling to have your Kickstarter featured in the news for being a huge failure. Ever since, I haven't do any Kickstarter or crowd funding.
I have done some early access, but mostly have regretted that as well - Shroud of Avatar, Planet Explorer, TUG... I guess I have a really bad instinct about funding a game.
my biggest has been the Coolest cooler. guy raised $12m and 60k plus backers. 4 years and i'm still waiting but at least they're in stores!
@dulu said in Evolution of "The Kill" in MMO PvP:
#1 That Rogue isn't naked. He's using a technique called "Reskinning", which has been around forever. Making a character model on your end LOOK different. Enemies still see him in his gear, but on his screen he can look however he wants. You can look at his hotbar, and still see he has his gear on, and his buff bar to see he has trinkets and other procs from weapons.
#2 None of the victims in these awful videos are stunlocked. They are just simply very bad. Take note of the mage who is inflicted with two bleed effects, garrotte and rupture (lol?), and he apparently tries to chase the rogue in near melee range, as he bleeds to death. He doesn't ice-block, he doesn't run away... he just panics and runs like a chicken with his head cut off and bleeds to death. This is a perfect example of why these "Casual" videos can't be used to demonstrate anything balance related. Your average player is complete gutter trash at PvP.
#3 Every class in WoW has a counter to stun. Or at least a survival cooldown. Classic Rogues were opportunistic predators. Crying about stunlock in 2018 is pathetic, and shows an unwillingness to learn how to PvP.
#4 Those videos piss me off for the single fact there isn't one Druid in Ironforge? Not a single level 44+ who can instant cast Fairy Fire on the Rogue? (Un-resistable by the way) He'd die to guards from a single instant cast. Trash Alliance. But no, it's much easier to cry.
video 2 is naked. actually they do have a tabard on.
@dulu said in Evolution of "The Kill" in MMO PvP:
"Stunlock" only exists in the mind. It's not a real thing, and never has been. People who complained about this in World of Warcraft were casuals, who never wanted to change their gear or build, or playstyle in order to adapt. If you're not willing to adapt, and look for counters, you're always going to get abused by people who are willing to do whatever it takes to win.
so the video of a naked rogue stunlocking a max level player was an imagined thing?
Yep those are imaginary video's there. Now these are old video's and could have been done before the trinket or the trinket was used.@holyhong
we had community servers back in the early days and it did split the community. having Fractured on 1 server is best as DS will be selling cosmetics.

the post sounds like the person just wants to spend sub 10$ and they'll 'play' it for a few hours and be done with it or they'll demand a refund because 'it wasn't what they thought it was' or some other excuse. DS needs testers who want to test the game knowing it'll have bugs and can write down how to duplicate a problem. You don't get those people with a 10$ EA price.
I didn't say I wanted a $10 EA. I said I want to be able to play soon, and EA needs to be inexpensive.
I'd be fine with a $60 EA to Alpha. It's paying now and then waiting years to even play the game that I won't do.I'm glad it's out of your budget.
I have no problem with spending $150 on a game. Budget isn't the question. The issue is spending $150 on a game that I don't get to play for a long time and I have no reasonable guarantee that it'll even ever be released. It's more of a principle than anything else.
I am glad to see people like you pulling for the game though. I'm sure insulting potential players will get many people to sign on to support Fractured.
there are no EA games that have reasonable guarantees to ever be released.
You use the term "play" which indicates to me you have no intention to test. Which is what Alpha and Beta phases are for.
Beta Phase 2 is 20$ currently at EB tier.
Alpha Phase 2 is 90$ at an EB tier.
@FibS if they spend 10 and refund 10 then it's a net loss of 1-3 because of merchant fee's. Not to mention the cost of hosting and bandwidth for that access to the game content.

Why do people do this? It doesn't help the game at all either to try to silence criticism or to try to push potential players away.

@kitkiani said in Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!:
I haven't pledged because I've been burned by Kickstarter/Steam Early Access games so many times that I have two requirements:
- Early access must be inexpensive.
- Early access must be early.
Waiting years for Beta 2 doesn't qualify for my second point. Spending $150+ on Knight doesn't qualify my first point.
So for me, I'm afraid as much as I want to see this game succeed I will be waiting for an affordable option that puts the game into my hands soon. And if that means waiting for official release, so be it.
I'm glad it's out of your budget.
that game is designed to be self hosted where the rules change. Fractured isn't designed that way.

a pictogram of what is included in each tier, i'm very surprised it isn't there already its normally a staple to KS.
i've only see them for projects where the tiers don't include all previous.
@duesenjet said in Open beta?:
Is there any date confirmed for an open beta?
no. there wont be any day till probably a few weeks before. expect sometime in late '20 or '21.
i believe there'll be plenty of things to do while unlocking knowledge, farming materials, killing beast and humans. We'll have sieges, invasions and asteroids to break up the monotony. There'll be protecting or attacking merchants/gatherers. tossing toilet paper on houses (oh i wish this were a thing). all while trying to survive.
@flamerunner
you know the game is open world pvp right? and there are no instanced pvp!?
to say it isn't available in pvp means it's just a cosmetic pet.
only problem I see about that game is you could literally be the only player in your world. that isn't much of a MMO for me.
