    • RE: Donating Pre Alpha Key if on Holiday during Pre Alpha Testing

It could still go through the company if done legitimately, where say I to be on holiday during pre alpha, and I message them and say, hey, give it to so and so cause I'll be away.... or, I'll be away so please pick the next in line...

People will do illegitimate things regardless of if someone agrees or not, I'm asking about a legitimate way to transfer.

    • Donating Pre Alpha Key if on Holiday during Pre Alpha Testing

Just what the title says. If a player happens to be away on holiday or otherwise engaged during the pre alpha testing, will they be permitted to gift their pre alpha key to another player of their choosing? Or will they need to just let the team know and the team will do another draw? Or, will you just have one less tester because reasons?

    • RE: In Game Memorial for Players that Die as a Suggestion

Making the addition of a headstone, or a statue in a town something that will require players to put effort into, will ensure that players do only put that effort into it for people who they lost and want to honour. Given that there are already plans to have statues honouring players in the kickstarter rewards, adding in the ability to have other statues for prominent players, something that could be collected for in a given town say, or even naming a park in a town after them, or a street after them, all the things we'd do in real life for prominent players.

No, you don't always know why someone disappears, but you would know for those who you were close enough to, to want to do something for in their deaths anyway. I wouldn't want people naming parks or streets in town after people who just disappeared, but if they know for sure, say an obituary or something, that the player has died, having anything you can do in game where you can't really do in real life, just makes sense to games of this nature where community is part of the fun.

With my friend who died recently, we've had this kinda surreal cross over with real life/gaming life with his friends and family, who didn't know the side of him we did. We talked to this man every day, many hours of the day, much much more than his "real" friends and his "actual" family. There's limited things in our game we can do, but we ended up taking screenshots of our "ingame memorial" for his family and sending it to them along with our condolence wall, and they in turn, sent us his memorial video to share with people.

    • RE: In Game Memorial for Players that Die as a Suggestion

@jetah I'd think it would be up to their fellow gamers to implement it, and if they thought the person worthy of it, then that should be enough.

Many of us rarely meet each other in real life. We might exchange gifts and cards and such with each other in the real world, but unless you're lucky enough to be near each other, often times you never meet other than in game.

Doesn't hurt to lose them any less, some of my favourite people are people I "met" online. Haven't had the luck to meet too many in person, but think highly of them.

    • In Game Memorial for Players that Die as a Suggestion

I would like to suggest that the team come up with some way to honour our dead, be it a memorial section of a town roster, or better yet, a cemetery in a local churchyard where we can inter our dead and put up a monument.

In another game I play, one of our very prominent players passed away this week. His home is enshrined by the game as a memorial to the player forever.

Players are able to conduct a memorial service of sorts, all gathering at the shrine together and we can change our names to messages of condolence to support each other in our mourning.

I would think that having some kind of funeral garb to wear when a player dies in real life, might be something that would appeal to some here as well, whether they choose to wear it permanently or not, an armband or such for a time of mourning would be welcome for many.

Having a permanent place in town though, either their home becomes memorialised or you can put a monument to them in a graveyard, or in the case of a very prominent citizen, a statue in town if they were important enough in that town would be a very nice thing to consider as a service to players who have lost a real life friend.

RIP Keith, sad I won't get to play this one with you, was looking forward to it.

    • RE: Forums Profile Picture

@frozencleric If it's an image you own, you can see the size of any of them by right clicking on the image and then on preferences. I personally find the easiest way to make them smaller is to use paint, not paint 3D, but in just the plain old original paint.

I go to the "resize" button and then change the percent of the photo depending on how close it was to the 256kb size already. You may need to resize it in half, and maybe even more than once. Save it and check the preferences on it, once it's small enough you can stop.

If it's not an image that you own, you simply want one of a particular item but aren't sold on which exact photo, you can even google image search for files smaller than 256kb already.

Barring any of the above, if you're trying to use your phone, there are apps like "resize photo" that can do it for you too.

    • RE: What's on the Menu?

@kralith expanding on this, given that travel to learn culinary skills might be difficult as Jetah says (if not impossible really) I like the idea that we might have some things that are more sought after with regards to food we can create. +1 to gluttony cracks me up. I'm hoping to see you set up an artisanal avocado smoothie bar where it might cost a little more but I get a +1 privilege attibute for it.

@muker said in What's on the Menu?:

Or I can offer a special title "cannibal" - it will be difficult to have, as will have to maintain its status. Your supply of satiety will be very quickly reduced, and it will be able to replenish only by eating their own kind and enemies in pvp. But it will have its bonuses, so do not worry. ( but still I believe that it is unlikely to be due to the balance in pvp)

    • RE: What's on the Menu?

@muker Do you think though, that perhaps different types of food, might have different values? And if someone were perhaps to have a restrictive diet.... say a demon who only drank blood, they might miss out on some of the properties of a specific food because they refuse to eat anything other than their restrictive diet?

Or someone who chose to have a vegan character, if it means they suffer due to a lack of non meat food, should they gain a buff due to refusing to go against their ethics? What of someone who only wants to ever eat a particular food, perhaps a certain species of mushroom, if it's all they eat, could there be some mystical benefit to such a restrictive diet given how difficult it may be to obtain?

Or as you bring up, should cannibalism offer a debuff, depending on what your alignment is, and who your god is? Would cannibalism not be a source of power on a planet like Tartarus given it's your only source of food?

    • RE: What's on the Menu?

So that opens up the conversation, will players who wish to live a raw, vegan, or raw, carnivore lifestyle, be penalised in some way compared to players who cook? Will players who don't like to cook need to employ someone who likes to? Will we encounter a culinary guild to meet the needs of those too busy to do for themselves, or like in UO, need to employ another character to do for us? Should we HAVE to? What if we do actually want our character to identify with a particular choice of eating, for ethical reasons etc?

I was just trying to answer your question, that's all.

given that my question is speculation, and an opening to a discussion, maybe you can join in on the idea of it then, hmmm?
