@Xzoviac said in Considering Character stats:

      sacrificing HP

Based on my experiences in other MMOs, unless you are a tank, and for PvE purposes, it is always worth sacrificing HP in order to min max your efficiency. Unless you are tanking, and especially if you are ranged player, mobs shouldn't be hitting you in the first place, and you should focus on maxing out your damage and CC to kill stuff.

Now when PvP comes into the question, everyone needs some amount of HP, however, with limited stat pool, I don't think HP should be maxed out, i think sacrificing some amount of HP in order to get another useful stat for your school is a good idea.

    • RE: Real Crafting

I would kinda prefer to not see gear dropped at all. Only resources, and then gear would have to be player crafted.

But I guess in loot drop system, some RNG is ok.

RNG I was talking about was mostly about combat and crafting. I just prefer those be skill dependent without lottery factor.

Hmmm I'm getting ideas about new forum addon that would (if you activate it) ring the alarm once important update comes. 😉

That way you could go to bed, and wake up when its time!

    • RE: So, just today's feedback - good and bad

I had some nice PvP combat time with Sidd, and all worked nicely with 2 things:

Not all spells work for me, fireball, ice shards, mage armor, cobweb and heal work... rest spells not, i spam keybinds and nothing is happening.

Ocassional Lagginess is an issue, spells wont activate, or when they do player you are targetting appears on another side of you and your spell missfires in wrong direction. 😉 Not sure if this is just me and my crap internet though. 🙂

I first heard of the Aria now as well, went on their forums to check them out, and I immediately found bunch of posts by their players who are totally disappointed with that game and it's mechanics. It was obvious instantly that that game is a fail.

    • RE: Trade caravans...?

Perhaps guard NPCs can be programmed to follow your caravan but only in the zone of influence they belong to (around the city your guild controls)... after they escort you to the edge of an area of their jurisdiction, they return to patrol or back to base.

This would make an incentive for guilds to fight for controls of multiple zones, and multiple cities, because of benefits of extended area where NPC guards could help them out.

If your guild also controls neighboring area, NPC guards there can be programmed to wait you at the edge of their zone and escort you to the next city in that zone.

This could also be arranged if neighboring city is controlled by friendly guild that wants to help you out, or you pay to that guild for this service. This gives guilds that put an effort in zone control the monetary benefits of selling their NPC services to other guilds.

This is why I would suggest that NPCs (guards and other) are allowed to function only inside the zone in which they belong to, and can't be sent to escort the caravan during entire trip to the end destination.

What would prevent me from taking two friends and killing your dozen veterans from a distance, one by one, retreating when in danger?

Another player attacking you alongside those merc NPCs.

NPCs should never be able to beat human players on their own. They should only be slight help so they can turn the tide if player forces are balanced against each other.

    • RE: What challenges should guild alliances face?

      @Farlander

Fractured is not a game featuring modern civilization where police forces are superiorly organized and have modern technologies to hunt down criminals in super efficient way (hell, even today so many criminals go free...).

Fractured features medival style civilization where battle is led by using spears, bows and arrows and some magic. Guards move on foot or on horses, and large part of land is unexplored and uncivilized.

So if you want to compare consequences for criminals with RL world, do not compare it to the modern world law system and police force. Compare it with how efficient was dealing with criminals in medival times.

Also don't forget government corruption in those times as well, where often pursuing certain "criminals" even wasn't in the "government" interests.

Also by playing on Arboreus, you have a whole planet where you can't be griefed or even killed... and if you are asking for even more than that, well... lets not get into further details, but I think no more words are needed, in that case, to explain what this request is anyway. 😉

    • RE: Partnering with humble bundle

      Yeah that's called having a publisher. 🙂

All small development companies have a publisher because they lack resources to handle all publishment and support related issues on a global scale.

Fractured will also, almost certainly have a publisher down the line. Publisher is usually chosen later on in development when game is almost ready to be deployed and publisher can see what they are dealing with so specific agreements and contracts can be made.

I can tell you (and that is also valid in my own case), that many players wait to see who the publisher will be before they make their final conclusion about the game.

Developers can be amazing (like they are here in Fractured), but if bad reputation publisher is chosen (lets say MyCom as an example), then this publisher can ruin the game completely with their monetary rules / cash shop and other policies.

It's also super important what kind of contract will be made, because more often then not publisher gets huge rights, and are allowed to change many policies involving monetary aspects of game, so for example even if game was developed as "no P2W", it can easily become P2W in the hands of a greedy publisher.

Lets hope that Fractured will end up in the hands of one of the good publishers. 🙂

@Farlander said in What challenges should guild alliances face?:

The reason I'm posting in this thread is because I don't want to see friendly fire and collision. There are too many ways to exploit those game mechanics to grief. I haven't seen much in the way of resolving those problems other than "deal with it this is a hardcore game not meant for carebears".

You should read the thread posts before replying then. I wrote a solution (used by MMOs already) couple of posts up.

Wow, way to twist what Farlander said! You've definitely lost rep with me. 😞

What else to say to a person that's demanding an entire game to be made how he likes? All 3 planets. Completely disregarding (may as well say disrespecting) all other players that want to play this game.

Where a whole planet where PvP is completely turned off isn't enough for him, but he wants an entire game to be made to his own liking (and to hell with everyone else).

This what I wrote, were if fact the kindest words I could have chosen. Suggesting a single player game, as that's the only way he can play how he likes without anyone else bothering him.

He's been rude as hell in alot of his posts.

Dude, if you consider my posts (that are in fact extremely polite and well written) "rude as hell" you got some serious sensitivity issues, lmao. xD

@Farlander said in What challenges should guild alliances face?:

He's that typical pvper that wants everything his way

In fact I wrote several times I'm quite happy with dev plans, and have asked for no changes to those plans anywhere. Now please show me where I have demanded (or even promoted) for free PvP on Arboreus, or perhaps removing of flags on Syndesia,...? No...? We can move along then. I'm definitely not someone asking for "everything my own way".

@Farlander said in What challenges should guild alliances face?:

So someone seeing you are low health just comes up and boxes you in.

So anyone simply comes and "boxes you in"? That must be a very fat player, to so simply box you in from all directions. xD And if sometimes a large group comes (which would effectively take to box you in), and in the process you die to that animal... so what? You resurrect and move on... it's a horizontal game where it's not hard to acquire "stuff" anyway.

Also if you notice strange large group moving towards you, you should be smart and start kiting animal away from them, or abandon fight and try to escape before they reach you... because honestly if you stay at your spot, not caring about whats happening around you, consequences (death) are well deserved.

    • RE: What challenges should guild alliances face?

@Farlander said in What challenges should guild alliances face?:

I've been in too many games where griefers just ruin them. They use the rules to their advantage to make the lives of other players miserably. Rules that were not intended to be used in the manner they use them. Then devs have to find work arounds because no one wants griefers in their games.

In real life a griefer would face consequences. They would be put in jail or even put to death. Devs can ban but rarely do players get banned for griefing because they were only using a loophole. If there is friendly fire dickheads will just go around killing their "friends" until they get booted from their guild/alliance. Then they will just hop around until someone catches on to their game. Even one incident can jeopardize an entire guild/alliance and ruin the fun for even more than the person they griefed.

@Roccandil maybe because Farlander has on multiple occasions (before I even started to post anything) kept calling players with whos play style he doesn't agree with, various derogative terms, including griefers, d*******s etc.

He has basically put a tag on any unwanted PvP event, as that being griefing. (sorry but this game includes PvP, if you want no part of it, you have whole planet to play on to avoid it, and if you travel elsewhere and meet PvP, you can not call that griefing, simply because you didn't wish for it.)

Followed by more insults for players that engage you in PvP and kill you...

@Farlander said in What challenges should guild alliances face?:

So you can be walking in town and some dickhead allied player who decided he was bored with the game can come up and kill you unexpectedly.

Then he proceeded to claim we want to call him snowflake (which noone did), and then stipulated to Alexian that HE was that griefer.

@Farlander said in What challenges should guild alliances face?:

If you want to call me a snowflake go ahead. I'd then suspect you are one of those players that enjoys making others upset

He was quite toxic in start of this discussion. My posts were extremely mild and polite in comparison, and I haven't used any insults at all, unlike him (he did it on multiple occasions).

Me reminding him that he is just a single player wanting to play this game, that he has entire area where he can be safe from PvP, and after the way he was posting (calling people d********s), he isn't going to have much rep with the community, is nothing but a simple fact. And I stand by all that.

So instead of standing behind him simply because you both support same mechanics, you might wanna also consider the way he was posting, instead of being blind to that part.

Ty, and have a nice day.

    • RE: What challenges should guild alliances face?

      @Roccandil yeah that's the problem. 😉

Basically, calling griefers derogative terms... but then equaling a single PvP kill in some circumstances as griefing... this is basically calling every player that makes that single kill those derogative terms.

I will state that I'm certainly not a griefer, I never player in such way that I pick a person and continually harass him, ever.

I will however make a lots of dirrefent kind of kills on various different people. Some of those "single kills" may by your definition fall under griefing (for example kill inside a city, or I don't know whatever), and this is why I see those derrogative terms applied to me, and other (by my definition) normal PvP players.

    • RE: Partnering with humble bundle

The biggest role of publisher for an indie company is international players support.

Small companies dont have enough resources to, on their own, adapt their game to rules and laws of each specific country, to offer player support to all nationalities and handle all issues that can arise, legal and otherwise.

That's where publisher comes in, with their already developed global network and experience handling finances, laws and global player support in exchange for portion of profits.

Problem are those greedy publishers that additionally want rights to change game and/or its cash shop, to squeeze out over time the most cash from players.

Those developers care not about longevity of the game, they just pick publishing of game after game, do money grab and move to another game when old one fails.

This is why it is CRUCIAL for devs to pick good rep, established publisher if they don't want their game failing to quickly.

Publisher will just move on to another game instantly. What will devs do? Another 4 years of new game development?

Sadly, this is what decent part of developers don't understand well enough.
