@Atrium It won't be balanced for sure as its alpha testing and main purpose of it is testing and balancing game. But because of that it would be nice to get some info b4 start so players highly focused on mechanics of game can catch things like this and inform about it.

      can... choose FOTM easyer. πŸ˜„

    • RE: Various damage types vs immunities

99% is still too much imho.

Various other MMOs tend to hard cap things at 75% and one can reach that one particular cap only when minmaxing in that direction, while his other stats suffer.

Normally soft caps engage at 35-40%.

    • RE: Intemization system

It's too early to theory craft with any precision right now, without having some hard numbers and game info from an actual playing and testing.

I'll just say that I hope that game keeps new players and veterans at competitive play field in PvP, without much power gap between them. It provides more challenge, more fun PvP engagement, and more fun overall.

Veteran players will indeed have some advantage, some reward for their time investment, but this reward shouldn't come as an advantage in PvP. Advantage in PvE? Sure. And they will have that.

Multiple gear sets and multiple skill decks to be able to engage in so many more PvE encounters a lot more easily than new players that still have to grind out all those options.

But PvP should remain balanced. St least I hope that it will. πŸ™‚

    • RE: Camping?

Devs said that they will implement short invulnerability window when you get back up.

This was said in context of being able to get away from monsters that surround your corpse, but I don't see why this wouldn't be the same in PvP.

If someone is camping you, get back up and use that short window to attack and gain advantage over him before it expires, then kill him.

Perhaps respawning in your home will get you a bit longer invulnerability window? Aka, if someone attempts to camp you in your own home, you can easily kill him.

    • RE: What sets Fractired apart from other MMORPG’s?

Players will be likely given a few skills to start with (perhaps one of premade decks that gets selected based on the players attribute choices, so not everyone will start with same skills).

We might also be given some starting items, but if the items will be easy enough to craft perhaps even no need for that.

    • RE: Question about enviromental damage/effects

Maybe if you are under effect of bleed, some environment will further reduce your movement speed (you are in pain, body cutted, cant move through high grass, or rocks easy).

      Stuff like that.

    • RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus

Bots can have a good AI, but they can never behave as well as human players can.

Make monsters so challenging that they are challenging even for human players, and bots will have a very hard time.
There is no reason whatsoever to make mobs easy to kill. This will be boring for humans AND easy income for bots.

Of course besides this other steps can be taken as well, but making mobs challenging is certainly one of these steps.

    • RE: Where is the Feature Spotlight dedicated to Technology?

I'm seeing Demons and Furries as a "minmax" races, where you chose your prefered schools, and chose race to fit those and minmax in that direction.

Humans on the other hand I see as versatile race, no affinities, more equal stat distirbution possible, and then technology implants added to push you towards specific school needs.

When you want to change the school, you change the implants you are using.

In this way, you can never be as good in specific school as demon or furry minmaxer, but in exchange, you can be very good in any school you choose, and you can switch around as you wish.

      That's at least my hope.

    • RE: The Tides of PVP

@Pluto this can be resolved by limiting guild member number, not allowing guilds to have infinite amount of members, but limiting to 150-200 max.

Sure alliances can be formed, but alliances are about politics, and are very fragile. And when it comes to PvP guilds, each guild will want "stuff" for themselves, and not to share. At least true PvP guilds who are most dangerous will.

I'm a member of PvP gaming community that plays through many years through several MMOs, and we were always "our guild vs the world", rejecting alliances and just accepting a challenge.

Just let guilds have some valuable rewards that can only belong to a single guild, and can't be shared with alliances, and this will prevent large alliances being formed as there will be no point in them. As spoils will only be able to go to one guild. And then having guild limited to 150-200 people max, you will always have battle among many guilds in the world, and will avoid one alliance being able to control everything.

    • RE: Is there planned any "CD reduction" in case of spell saved?

This just means mages shouldnt only minmax int for spell power.

They should also invest in perception for spell accuracy.

Not really sure how it is now but, imho, every school, melee or spells, should need investment into accuracy to not miss... or at least, to miss as little as possible.

    • RE: Is there planned any "CD reduction" in case of spell saved?

Melee can be quite OP, especially if more tanky, and having some good AOE CC utility skills, like AOE chainpull, which pulls all targets within certain range towards them and stunns them shortly - followed by ranged nuke on that location.

ArcheAge had a cool spell, which created a forcefield in certain radius around the player, trapping group of people that were around the player inside it, cutting them off from rest of their team, especially from healer support, if used correctly.

Even with collision, melees can be quite OP, it just depends on how tanky they will be, and how much utility spells they will have, and how OP those spells are.

    • RE: The Tides of PVP

When people play the game, most of people don't care about others, but only about their own progress. This is reality. Accept it.

Guilds will chose alliances if it suits them, if they have advantage due to it (as simple as that). If they gain nothing from it, or if they lose from it, they will not.

This is why solution is to tie all the spoils of war to a single winning guild, not able to be shared with other guilds. Invent rewards that are bound to guilds that win. Some guild (horizontal) progression, that only winning guilds get.

Then limite guild member number to 150-200 and voila. You will have no alliances. Unless 2000 people will want to be slaves for 200, working for progress of those 200, and abandoning their own. And I really doubt that they will want that.

    • RE: More than 8 abilities if beastkin, still truth?

"Short" invulnerability window instantly reminds me of Black Desert, the witch class, whos gameplay was to blink all the time to stay immune to damage.

      Just meh...

If there are any "invulnerabilities" they should be tied to general spells that are available to every race, and ofc. have a decent CD tied to them.

I could already see druids shapeshift like mad to remain immune lol.

    • RE: Concerns related to the attributes

@Tuoni said in Concerns related to the attributes:

Hmmm... I was wondering, that what would be such passives that would even need inspection? I am not saying there could not be any but from my experience it is enough to see what others wear and what abilities they use. Passives does not usually offer anything game changing and you can expect your enemy to use the best ones (meta wise) anyway.

Depending on design, passives can mean a lot. From my (TSW) example, passives were like 300% of the build.

You had active skills of certain type, they caused bleeds, vulnerabilities, they were piercing, etc they had many characteristics...

Then you had million passives, for example make piercing hits crit extra, then you could add passive, make all your crits raise your block rate by X, then you could put passive make all your blocks heal you for Y, then make all your heals do % damage around you...

I'm just sketching this, but passives could not only proc of actives, but of other passives as well, that procced of other passives, of other passives....

so when you hit enemy, if you had passitve to do aoe around him if you crit, then if your aoe proced something, then it chained to another passive, ... you get my point πŸ™‚

It was insane what you could do with passive theorycrafting, in addition to your gear and active skill assortment.

    • RE: Cities Verse Solo Random House plots

As a hermit, you will rely on gathering, being closer then town folks to raw materials (so you can gather more efficiently the larger amounts), and then traveling with those materials to towns to sell them.

Then you will have cash, that you can spend on other stuff in towns that you need, including "advanced gear".

That's the whole point of sandbox. People not having everything, but having something, then traveling trading for other stuff. If you would have everything in one spot, then whats the point.
