    • RE: Bow crafting

yes, and the English Longbow was specifically developed to counter Platemail armor, as the longbow could create the penetrating power to pierce through the flattened metal sheets, which is then why chainmail was developed, as the chain links would move and shift to concentrate on the point of impact, deflecting much of the force of an arrow shot that wasn't absolutely straight on.

I did my Middleschool and Highschool Class projects on Medieval Weapons and Armor

Has anyone figured out what the unknown tool is you need to finish the town walls? And where you would get/make said tool?

The real historical benefit of the Short Bow over the Longbow was that you could fire the shortbow on horseback much easier than a longbow (unless your using a Daikyo the Samarai Longbow

you can have up to 3 characters too, when the game goes live, not sure if there's a limit at all right now during Alpha

    • RE: Metal Gear not so Solid

There is a reason Ancient man went for Bronze weapons over Copper.. Adding a bit of Tin to Copper creating the Bronze Alloy increased its durability 100x.

Yes, Copper weaponry is expensive in effort/supplies to craft, and yes, it doesn't last long, but really, you don't stop at making your weapons out of copper, you do your copper weapon first as proof of concept, then any future copper you turn into something more managable, like Arrow heads or coins, works of art, etc... in a culture. You start mixing Tin with your copper to make that Alloy, then you go from Bronze to Iron, and from Iron to Steel, then various types of exotic fantasy Steels....I assume eventually, that's how Fractured is going to do it.

Games like Old School RuneScape show you how to do it, you train your skill working up through the materials, until your crafting Runite Weapons and Armor, but you start with Bronze.

    • RE: Doubts on Hide and Leather Armor

Medium serves another purpose. It is the Combat class starter armor before the Characters can start getting metal armor (Tanks) or custom light armors (Assassins/Archers)

Gladiator Archetype characters don't want to be running around in Scholar's Gear afterall.

    • RE: Non-Forum Players
      1. Guild Halls have been mentioned, we'll see on that.
      2. Small guilds are more about groups of friends joining up together than randomly just joining a guild. If you want to make a non-group of friends, growth by recruitment guild, then you need to invest the time/effort in a Webpage, Discord Server, Facebook Group, and join the Guild Recruitment forums.

In other words, your worried about something that truly isn't a worry. Smaller guilds aren't really about just recruiting people, and most people don't want to just randomly join a smaller guild, they want to join by seeing a member of that guild in action and liking how they play...so then they ask that player how to join their guild.

Are we talking big guilds (they use the recruitment tools out there) or little friendship guilds (usually not openly recruiting really anyway, and when they are ready to do so, then they use the tools too)

oh you mean an overlay or transparency map, most MMOs go the Mini-map route over the overlay, and it actually takes a lot of graphical code power to keep a transparency up over everything for each individual character, you'd be surprised how much extra graphic processing that takes.

    • RE: Doubts on Hide and Leather Armor

The Tanning tubs main benefit comes from processing special light leathers, like Ghoul Skin and Troll. Also, Casters can cast in Light, but not Medium armor, generally the armor stats are about the same between the Hide and the Leather version, but the Leather is lighter and thus caster-friendly.

    • RE: Character Field of View: Out of Screen Nameplates

@GreatValdus Trouble with that, though, is that the whole block strip to make the field square is asthetically unappealing to a lot of people, a major No Go in fact reminding them of old TV limitations and getting Letterbox videos with black above and below when playing on non-widescreen monitors. Something cosmetic like that can likely drive a ton of players away, more than even realize the problem you point out. More casual players don't even think in that regard. Panning at least allows you to look around and expand North South by limiting East West.

    • RE: Character Field of View: Out of Screen Nameplates

I'm still a fan of implementing Camera Panning, albeit later after other mechanics are ironed out, and then a fixed view and sound distance based on a character's perception score.

    • RE: ChipsNSoda Point of View (Feedback)

@Xirinki said in ChipsNSoda Point of View (Feedback):

INCREASE HITBOX OF SOME MATERIALS (SOME WOOD LOGS CANT BE PICKED UP BECAUSE THEY FALL IN A VERTICAL POSITION.

This would be a good fix for the long running phantom log issue, although a minor issue, more convenient then anything.

MAKE CRAFTING STATIONS USABLE BY CO OWNERS OF THE HOUSE, DOESNT MAKE SENSE THAT I ''DONT HAVE THE RIGHT TO ACCESS THIS'' IF I WANT TO CRAFT INGOTS OR USE WOODMISTH STATION.

At least make station permissions able to be set to Co-Owner and/or Guild on personal plots. Smelters at least have no permission settings.

LEGENDS AND MINI BOSS SHOULD DROP SOME DECORATIVE ITENS

They pretty much want the equipment to be all player created, so the best your going to get from Bosses and Legends is the Tales for knowledge, and mayhaps good rarer reagents in maybe higher multiples, and gold. Cosmetic items come from things like Foundation Points, and all actual items in the game degrade, so cosmetic items would have a limited appeal in that regard anyway. The cosmetic overlays from foundation points/levels stay with the account at least.

      AUTORUN KEYBUTTON SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED

They said already they are working on this, but as a QoL implementation, it is lower priority than the mechanical fixes

IMPLEMENTATION OF A MAP WITH 20% OPACITY (LIKE DIABLO MAP). Its kinda boring to stop traveling and open the map to see where I'm going.

This is the first I've heard of anyone wanting Fog of War. Out in the outer world, rarely does fog of war fit, except in dark gothic games like Diablo, here, it makes more sense to show the map, but leave undiscovered areas without too many labels.

MAKE TOOLTIPS ON EVERY TALENT POINT YOU WANT TO SPEND POINTS ON IT. (CONSULTING WIKI EVERYTIME TO CHECK WHAT THAT POINT DOEST ITS KINDA UNNECESSARY)

Tooltips is again a QoL implementation, and although I'm sure they plan some of this, it will probably come late Beta. I do know they prefer most things be learned via trial and error, not via tooltips or wiki lookup.

INSTEAD OF CREATING MULTIPLE FOR EXAMPLE MULTIPLE SMELTING STATIONS IN THE GAME TO BE ABLE TO PRODUCE MORE INGOT, MAKE THE STATIONS LEVELABLE, THIS WOULD MAKE THE PLOTS MORE ATTRACTIVE
FOR NEW PLAYERS INSTEAD OF THEM NOTICING A PLOT WITH 29 SMELTING STATIONS JUST TO INCREASE PRODUCTION LEVEL. SO IF I WANT TO SMELT MORE THEN 1 INGOT AT A TIME, I WOULD NEED TO RAISE
THE LEVEL OF THAT SMELTING STATION SO IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO MAKE MORE INGOT.

Interesting thought, but feels a little bit over industrializing, building upward instead of outward as it were. They want space on plots to be a premium, and to let players choose how to best use that space for their needs, be it lots of Chests, or rows of Smelters.

MAKE LOOT FROM MOBS BETTER TO PICK IT UP, IF I KILL 10 SKELETONS IN THE SAME PIXEL, IT GETS HARD TO CLICK ON ALL OF THEM TO GET THE LOOT FROM IT, SOMETIMES WE JUST LEAVE THE MOB
WITH FULL LOOT BECAUSE WE CAN'T CLICK IT.
Group looting is already pretty much a no-go. This being a Full loot PvP system, they want it to take a few minutes for people to loot things in the heat of it, putting characters at risk, and also splitting the attention of bandits trying to steal loot.

    • RE: Packaging Stations

I agree they should at least keep the tab open between the station and they wagon so you can drag and drop a little faster. I know they are going for a few extra clicks as part of the Fractured experience, but these extras truly are needless...I say this after packing and then moving 24 bags of Rice this morning

yes, banks were accessable to everyone previously, but if they changed how they tied the code modules together for permissions, that may no longer be the case... and that might be one of the things required to get the universal gold trust bank module working right, who knows

      goddess I hope not!

One of the selling points of this game is you can't just easily walk your way through stuff like that. Most Guilds if they are big enough will have their own Discord, Webpage, Facebook Group, etc... for recruiting, and they can make arrangements to meet up in game...but it should ALWAYS require meeting up in game in my honest opinion.
