    • Unable to build a 4x4 Patio (or any 4x4 Blueprint) on a 4x4 plot in town....why?

My city governor approved me for an in-town plot and set me up with a 4x4 area, but when I try to place the 4x4 patio blueprint for optimal prestige and build space, I get a message under the button saying this plot isn't big enough.

This is a 4x4 plot, so it should handle a 4x4 blueprint, right?

I know the 5x5 plot option isn't working, or at least wasn't, but I thought the 4x4 plots were okay.

      I'm character name: Darylanthys
      Town is Vahalla Atrium
      Governor is Kralith
Plot location is the South Western Corner of the Town (assuming up is North)

EDIT: It seems to want to let me do the 4x4 L Blueprint, just not the Patio one.

no, Magic Missile goes off all at once, you just see the individual darts fly out one at a time quickly, but if you die, the spell is already completely cast and can't be interrupted

    • RE: Bounty Hunting & Jails - Official Feedback Thread

Can we get a Moderation on this Thread!?!

I know that we need to discuss and comment on this topic, and I KNOW Prometheus stated in the very opening post not to let this degenerate into a name calling, PvP vs PvE thread, but it seems like we're getting more and more off topic and more and more into just sniping at each other.

Yes, Nekrage has a point, things that limit playtime in the game, such as jail 'MAY' cause people to rage-quit the game.
Lonelycookie also has a point, the victims of ganking/Rabid-PvPers killing without consequence, and more importantly, compensation for the wounded parties will also Rage-Quit

The game can work. The game does need a middle ground arena, and Syndesia is that middleground, so we have to come together and figure out what works best.

Do I think someone who just flagged evil should get immediately caught for a 24 hr time out and 2000gp fine? NO, it's a little steep for someone who has just barely declared their intent to go evil.

I still think we need a soft start 1st strike rule, so if you declare as evil, and immediately get capped for it, your karma hasn't gone below -100 even yet, you get like a shorter time out, 2 to 6 hrs and a 600gp fine. 1 time only, and if you pass the mark, no amount of redemption can get you back into the safe zone for that.

Punish the Criminals, and punish them with something meaningful. Remember, the 'Time-Out' can be mitigated by paying your bail. There was also my idea of giving them a 'work-gang' tag, where they can't be PvP'd, and everything they accumulate until they reach a certain quota gets turned over to the 'state' except food/healing items.

You could even make it similar to Fetch Quests of other MMOs. You got caught stealing from people near the town of Duath....now that you have been arrested, you can spend your time in jail, OR you can go out and mine 2 Wagon Loads of Coal, Stone or Iron to be turned into Duath.

For the Victims: Any extra Reagents and other items above and beyond the ore collected to pay off their debt that's been turned in can be claimed based on number of times they've been killed/robbed recently near that town's center of influence.

    • RE: Change to Syndesia, the true mix of PvE and PvP?

A possible compromise option to the whole time in jail thing, instread, the player gets a 'Chain Gang' flag, and they can go out into the world. Monsters can still kill them, but not other players. While they have the Chain Gang tag, the only loot they get to keep is food. Everything else else goes to pay off their bail. They lose the chain gang status when they turn in the equivalent loot. Might even make it like a fetch quest, where they have to produce a certain amount of something to get out, like 100 Coal.

The bounty hunter still gets half the loot value of the bail. The 'evil' player would be able to opt into this alternative system.

    • RE: Change to Syndesia, the true mix of PvE and PvP?

Games are Risk/Reward systems, so nobody who is really into gaming wants a system that is too easy to get by (Except maybe someone who really is a Carebear player, and I hesitate to use that term because not every PvE person is one) There does need to be consequences for actions.

The current Bounty system is a step in the right direction, but in the Alpha, it doesn't fully reflect this because in the Alpha, Gold has next to no real tangible value...Sure, you can use it to upgrade your town, and pay your plot upkeep, but that's it, other than Bail, so that's why they need to set the bar high for bail money, to make it impactful.
Time, on the other hand is a premium asset, especially during a limited Alpha run. With only approximately 30 days to pay the Alpha, losing 24 to 48 hrs of playtime can be harsh on a hardcore player, and even a casual who has limited play availability will feel the pain.

As I said in the Bounty thread, they can bring about a 1st Strike system for people with 0 to -100 Karma, that only sticks bail at like 600gp, and time in Jail at 6 hrs but that's a 1 time leeway, and once you pass the -100 threshold, you don't get it ever again.

The idea of partial looting has some promise, but mayhaps instead of picking either Gear or Inventory +/- Cart/Wagon, how about they get the Cart/Wagon Inventory, and then get a display of what the character has and the looter can pick X items, be they equipment or inventory, with multiple looters being limited to just 1 Item each. This, plus all the gold on hand would be fair.

I agree, we don't want Syndesia to become Demon-world-Lite by any means, we want it to cater to those who like to PvP sometimes, and PvE sometimes, or like to PvE in a more PvP risky world.

    • RE: Bounty Hunting & Jails - Official Feedback Thread
      1. I fully support a Bounty system
      2. I'm actually a PvE player, but I will say, the 2k for a first offense on someone with basically -1 karma is a little steep, as is 24 hrs for that character, so I might initiate something where if you have a Karma score of less than -100 Evil, your first trip to jail cost you like 600gp and 12 hrs jail time. If your Karmic debt reaches beyond -100, then bump it immediately to the 2k and 24 hrs and scale from there. This way the player just experimenting with the possibility of doing some evil can get that first strike slap on the wrist.
      3. In the above proposed modification, you only get that 'Newly Evil 1 Strike' leeway once, and after that, your treated like any other criminal.

As for the situation with Alts, I see nothing wrong with an Evil player going in on their Alt account while they are in Jail...generally, you only get like 3 Alts, if all 3 end up in Jail, they are stuck unable to play, but otherwise, they can go do non-evil acts with an Alt, which isn't adding to the negativity.

Unfortunately, if you don't have a color-blind person on staff, it can be hard to judge what will or won't be easily viewable, sadly.

    • RE: Metal Gear not so Solid

One of the key principals of this game is to load-out your character based on what your hunting/accomplishing.

Afraid of PvPers, have a PvP Load-out and Talent/Skill Preset combination best suited to counter them.

Going against Wisps and Treents, have a build set for that

Food and Reagent gathering, have a minimalistic approach setup.

    • RE: Color Blindness and Health Bar

@GreatValdus Sadly, the colors used are typical and traditional. I know some games handle it with a white or other colored font percentage next to the bar, or the ability to turn the bar into a percentage, so that's a thought. Another option might be to allow players in the settings to swap out the bar colors or make the bars a little bigger and more pronounced...again, QoL and not to be expected before late beta

    • RE: Non-Forum Players

Don't have an answer for you there Mirgannel12, really, the off-line Discord/Webpage/Facebook groups take the place of a Guild recruitment hall, and you still need to be met in person to make the final entry into a guild, in-game.

If they add Guild Recruitment Halls, or Bulletin Boards in game, that will be another option. Otherwise, there should NOT be a way to join blindly, even if some might want to do just that, it ruins the whole feel of the game. You say going out of game feels like it's breaking immersion, well to the rest of us, blindly recruiting like that breaks the immersion feel and is a bit too gamey for our tastes.

    • RE: Wagons (and stuff)

They already talked about other wagon options and decided it was a no-go, don't remember why, but that was like 2 tests ago.

Originally, campfires actually did what fireplaces do and fully refreshed people, and it was decided by the developers that they didn't want any kind of full mobile refresh station, so I doubt they will bring in any kind of mobile outpost system.

As for wagons carrying lighter items, like with an attached chest, that was discussed, but don't remember if we ever got a real verdict on that one.

    • RE: Recent patch broke Starter Town Cotton harvesting: Unlimited Plant Fiber

Not really. Plant Fibers is the single easiest resource to accumulate as it is...so a slightly increased chance by picking cotton doesn't skew things hardly at all. It's not like plant fibers are used to pay city upkeep costs or anything, they just make ropes, linen weave, and bandages.

    • RE: Start as "Rogue/Archer"?

As this is an Alpha test, they are keeping the Archetype choices to the bare minimum for testing purposes. It is hoped that after more of the mechanics are ironed out, and a few variations have been tested, that they will add more Archetype choices at the beginning of the game, but the only 2 choices right now is to be expected.

    • RE: Buying VIP with Dynamight Tokens?

This is doubtful, as the main way you get Dynamight Tokens is also how you get VIP status, by your Founder Pack level...as such, it would hardly make sense to make VIP available for tokens, or at least, not at a low enough token price that it isn't just easier to upgrade your founder pack instead.

    • RE: Lower city requirements for testing purposes

      @Kralith This

The city requirements are set to realistic values, to lower them would skew the results and pretty much invalidate that whole aspect of what's being tested.

When you run a test, you need results across the spectrum to measure against, those towns that make it to the top Rank before the test is over are one element of the testing results, but so are those cities that will keep getting demoted back to Rank 1 over and over, only to build and fall again, and those who find a comfortable median level of say Rank 7 to 10 by the end, and every flavor in between. This will represent a cross-section of what can be expected over a longer term run of the game.
