    • RE: Fall Alpha Spotlight – Market & Mailbox

@axan22 I don't think Prometheus is using a Stream Client that lets him smoothly move his Webcam window dynamically. I say this, because he actually mentioned in the video that the mail notification was probably covered by his webcam.

Everything else he was doing was showing other than the mailbox though, so this video wasn't too bad for that.

    • RE: Movement

There is actually a rather long thread over this very subject. It has been addressed on more than one occasion.

The Devs have said that it is essential for the feel of the game they are going for that WASD movement is not added in. They which for a dynamic combat system where you are actively using the mouse to move and target in combat. They wish for no 'lock-on' mechanism, and they want the whole feel that combat is happening in this real time fashion where you can misstep towards an opponent by simply misclicking.

The game is also not really in development for a console port at this time, so things like controllers are not a consideration either.

The biggest thing, though, I believe, is that they want to prevent auto-macros/bot systems from automating the game play for someone to work the system, and key/controller assigned movement makes that so much easier to code. Mouseclick movement/combat makes it next to impossible to code a macro or bot to effectively automate combat.

I've been playing MMOs since they came out as well, although I myself am only 50 (I started young) and I understand the concern over tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome, and it has also been brought up that the mouse movement will preclude certain players with disability from being able to enjoy the game, however, as much as inclusivity is a watchword in gaming and pretty much everything, nowadays, they also realize that not every game can be for every player, if you want to maintain diversity in the market. Fractured is meant to be unique in the MMO world, and as such, some things are lines in the sand.

    • RE: So tell me fellow PvE/RP players, what's you impression so far?

I'm loving the obvious work the Devs put in to the game. Each successive Alpha is a testament to the Devs' dedication to making Fractured its own unique game in the world of MMOs.

I like that they aren't just catering to the PvPers, which are frankly in the minority of gamers, just because they are usually the loudest. I like that there are inroads to serious solo'ists not being too restricted in gameplay. Sure, we probably can't take on one of the more powerful Legends, solo, even with top notch gear, but every game needs those kinds of megabosses to bring it to life.

Towns are getting better and better. One of the things me and My small 3 person guild love is building up cities. Once we've acquired a house for each of us and built it up, we love to go through and start finishing the building of city buildings and other people's properties to get a city up and running faster...and then helping to maintain that city's upkeep requirements.

My GF is an obsessive farmer/gatherer type, so she can spend 90% of her time just doing that. I personally like to do a little of everything, but I'm our group's main Enchanter. and My sister is our gung-ho Melee fighter who loves combat almost as much as she loves building. (she's the only one of us that is even tempted by any PvP content, but agrees that it is more a curiosity than a necessity for her.

Fractured is ticking the right boxes for us, and it is still in development. As anyone on the forums can tell you, I'm a fairly active poster, and a long time Alpha and Beta tester of MMOs, and come from an even longer history of TTRPGs, and I'm fairly level headed and tend to share my opinions pretty openly, and try to be as helpful as possible.

Hope you find enjoyment like I have in the game, and that it culminates in an MMO that we can all enjoy (although more than likely with my medical conditions, I may not live to see that day)

@Corinzio Give him time, he may be knee deep in code, or I think he even mentioned something about a short vacation somewhere, so that might be the case.

Regardless, he is usually pretty quick to respond on Discord so if he isn't right now, it means he's not gone on discord because of something keeping him away, be it family or coding.

    • RE: Solo pvp areas

@PeggyHill there are plans for Asteroid content that could be considered 'Instanced' I guess, but otherwise, the Devs have said they wanted to stay away from that and have everything happen in 'realtime' on the 3 main planets

    • RE: Player Killer Penalties

@FLeaLoD I think perma-death, even if it takes a few falls, with perma-gradual weakening would lead to riots. That's almost as bad as keeping them from playing with enforced jail time (in fact, I think the jail time would go over better)

A player should have the option of re-rolling a character as it were, at any time, but should never be forced into doing so. That is more of an ultimate hard core mode that people need to voluntarily enter into, not be forced into. Just being PvP on the Partial PvP world should not be sufficient to 'volunteer' them.

@Xarcane as I said in my post, you don't get automatic access. You have to message Prometheus, preferably on Discord, in order to get added manually.

@Corinzio I think he meant the Eternal Pack, calling it the Immortal by mistake.

I don't remember the pack names from the Kickstarter a few years ago, but he could have also purchased an upgrade through the Kickstarter Campaign. I no longer have my link to the update set, so thought it was overwith and you had to use the store now, but I could be mistaken

    • RE: Fall Alpha Spotlight – Equipment Progression

@OlivePit Each 'Lost Tale' is usable only once per character

@spoletta Also don't forget that a KP system, unlike an XP system, you spend the KP on things, like unlocking skills and the talent tree, where generally the XP system is either one lump sum that amasses, or several small sums towards different skills/abilities (like in RuneScape games)

@margenov there is no Exp in Fractured, LOL....we use a knowledge point system that's based on how many times you kill a specific type of monster until you reach 100%, and also you get knowledge for everything you harvest for the first time in the wild, things like that. They can't really put a boost on that so much. I think they've already dialed back the KP costs for things to speed things up during testing.

    • RE: We need NFT's

@SpaceWhor3 The stated goal of the Developers is to keep the Cosmetics as really the only cash paid for items in game. And thus, keep them off of alternative marketplaces. The cosmetics then will all be set to no-trade/no-sell status.
They further have said that they want individuals and groups to put in the time to get things, not be able to just buy their way into it. Sure, they can go to the marketplace and buy an item that was made/enchanted by another, as long as it is new, but without cosmetics, and as always, items have a durability, this is to keep the player run economy going. They don't intend to have players crafting, buying, or selling cosmetics, or related items, so NFTs would in no way fit the aesthetics of Fractured in the least.

They don't want people to have shortcuts like that, and as there aren't going to be Higher Level Uniques in the game, the whole NFT economy breaks down.

@OlivePit Daggars/Throwing Daggars might be a good possible Mage Weapon. Use it at ranged, with almost the speed of a bow, but with magic channeling ability added in, with automatic returning ammo would be really nice

    • RE: We need NFT's

I neither need, nor want NFTs in Fractured. Further, I don't think most of us long time supporters really want them either...just because a rather small group of people on the gaming circuit think that they are the way of the future doesn't mean that they really are.

    • RE: The Foundation - newsletter count missing

@Psymantis The big thing here is that, most of the Foundation game rewards don't even go into affect until launch. They aren't Alpha/Beta perks, but real game launch perks, so they have plenty of time to fix it. Even without the other points from Newsletter counts and such, there are a lot of points being tabulated that will stil reflect people's relative activity on the site compared to each other.

    • RE: Fall Alpha Spotlight – Equipment Progression

@spoletta and that's the whole reason for these Alpha tests. To see where they need to put the slider of such things in order to achieve that balance they are looking for.

    • RE: Fall Alpha Spotlight – Equipment Progression

@spoletta that depends on how you rate the value of enchantments relative to each other. Yes, weapon enchants could increase the base damage of a weapon, but by how much compared to how much the Armor increases? We don't even know the numbers for the new system yet. If you look at their numbers almost equivalently, then enchanting Armor is actually more cost effective because you can stack so many pieces of armor together on your character, combining the effects of the enchantments. Stackability and versatility have a bit of an affect on the value overall, as does the final numbers, and the strategy your building for.

most of the pack perks don't kick in until launch. As to the Developer's Forum, you have to message Prometheus directly, usually best on Discord, in order to get that changed, it's not automatic.

@PeachMcD Someone's thinking Arcane Archer type dreams 🦌

I love games with the right balance of complexity to playability, and so far, Fractured is doing well in that regard. Me, I'm one of the ones still contemplating Bard Builds, and what's a Bard without a good Rapiar at his side, hmmmmmm
