    • RE: "Cosmetic" Customization & Show-Off

      @THH said in "Cosmetic" Customization & Show-Off:

Cosmetics in general - and not only such you have to pay real cash for

As this is the ONLY thing that the Devs intend to be in the Cash Shop other than Founder's packs, I seriously doubt your going to get them to add too many free cosmetics in the game. You want to decorate your character, you pay for the privilege.

As regards different looks for different equipment in general, this is most likely something we'll see after game release, but hardly carries the weight that it needs to be in the Beta phase of the game.

    • RE: This might be killing fractured population

@Contucky The problem with the various pay methods is each one generally requires some kind of Merchant Account. Not every developer can get multiple merchant accounts, and the deal with each account can have different and sometimes very unattractive terms. This is why many online retailers will stick to only a couple of pay methods, and not branch out, because the cost of variety can end up being too much for the merchant.

    • RE: Limited uses for recipes

@stkmro as @spoletta said, Recipes in the Cash shop will not happen.

The Devs have 100% promised no pay-2-win/pay-2-advance for FO, and that the cash shop would only really be cosmetics, that are account bound so you can't even sell them.

Recipes in the cash shop would become 'pay-2-win/advance; because if nothing else, people will pay in-world gold for Recipes paid for out of game.

    • RE: Neutral alignment needs a change

Also remember, from a Game Developer's standpoint, Good playstyles should be always more encouraged than Evil at least, as Good playstyle encourages players to join in the game, encourages cooperation, and frankly PvP/Evil play often devolves into Toxic antisocial behavior that drives especially new players away from the game.

I'm not saying all PvPers are toxic, mind you, I'm saying the playstyle is far less welcoming to the masses, and so as a Developer, that is a consideration, and why Good is incentivized on Syndesia, and Evil is penalized, where Neutral is the Status Quo for the most part...mayhaps a couple perks.

    • RE: Limited uses for recipes

      @Tuoni This!

I love most of FO, but the one thing that just doesn't jive with the feel of what FO is in my book is the whole Recipe thing.

Recipes tied to crafting I can get behind, with maybe some parts of recipes found on humanoids who could use them themselves, or found in chests for instance.

I also think @Kazzier has the right of it with progressively harder recipes to fulfill instead of dropped recipes.

This way, someone could viably play the game as a Crafter only if they wanted...start the game just unlocking some basics as they gather their materials, and then focusing on crafting and buying the mats they need later.

      1. it can take a minute to update
      2. if you were moving finished goods, you may just still be encumbered
      3. You might just still have had too much on you.

    • RE: A Different Perspective to Alignments and PvP Issues

@Clinion Sieges have gone back to the Devs for more work, and Guild Wars have not been implemented yet, but the idea is that once declared, anyone in a Guild can be targeted by the enemy guild during the span of the War, regardless of Alignment, so your getting what you want there, it just isn't here yet.

    • RE: About that AMA on 30.04...

      @Ablabla I agree

Also, people need to realize that just because a gaming company is having an AMA doesn't mean they are obligated to answer the questions that player/backer thinks are most important. Generally speaking, a company uses an AMA to answer the questions they are ready to give answers to, and to possibly field other questions they hadn't thought of on the fly...with the freedom to ignore said questions if they don't fit what that company is prepared to talk about at present.

Why was PvP not addressed at all, probably because as the Devs have said in numerous other places, getting Alignment right on Syndesia is an ongoing process. They have indicated that they are mostly happy with what they've got now, but have admitted there is room for change and some balancing is still coming, and as far as they are concerned, that is probably it for OUR reveal on that subject for now. Thus, it wasn't addressed in the AMA.

The Devs are a great group of people, and they have been fairly involved as compared to some companies in these matters, but remember, ultimately, an AMA is a Political/Publicity/Marketing Q&A used to address things they feel need to be/they are open to...addressing. It is not a free for all open season ASK all, even if they give the image that it is.

    • RE: A Different Perspective to Alignments and PvP Issues

@Ablabla And I'd argue that Diplomacy is more of a Strategic Puzzle than a game. Same with Chess and Othello and other similar activites. They are all fine for what they are, but to be a 'game' you really need an element of chance, not just skill/strategy.

    • RE: Possible Exploit to report

Just switched to Myr from Tutorial Island with character and I kept my Mastery buildup. I switched with 2/4 19% on Common Clothing.

This would be too easy when Flax regenerates so fast, and there is 0 dangerous mobs to worry about. If this works for all the Primitives as well, then someone could spend less than 20 hrs in the Tutorial Island and max out all the starter skill masteries possible in the tutorial island without any risk (except for those requiring killing wolves and rabbits). True, you couldn't transfer more than your one outfit, but right now, My starter clothes are 200% Durability on every slot for this experiment.

    • Possible Exploit to report

This may be fully as intended, however thought I would report it just the same in case it is not the case:

Right now, you can gain levels of Mastery in Common Clothes on Tutorial Island where Flax refreshes so fast you can basically just run from between 3 Flax patches continuously, so you can quickly max out Common Clothes. I haven't fully tested it yet, I am 1/4 with 20% in about to go to 2/4 now, and I don't know if you can bring this Mastery over to the mainland yet, but I will go to 2/4 and then transfer to the mainland and see in just a few minutes and update this then.

    • RE: Transfer from Tutorial Zone will not complete

This is a known issue, and all you can do right now is Alt+F4 out of the game, then restart it...you'll have completed the transfer...

This is happening from Tutorial Island, And via the Harbors when switching Continents.

      Where are you located, Globally?

I know there are some places that are not getting service right now because of the issues in the Ukraine (and that's all I'll mention on the subject as this is not the place)

    • RE: Bug Collection ! :)

@OlivePit You also consider that the game is now 'Always up' not a limited 30 day test, so drop rates can be a whole lot rarer to give value to some reagents.

Even though Foxtail and Rabbits Feet are pretty rare, and we now need 5 of them to enchant with, I still think their drop rate is good overall.

    • RE: "Fight the good fight!"

@Tuoni They have said that the click combat system they have now is what they intended. This is the design they want for combat flow in FO. I think a lot of us are okay with this, even if there are a few decenters out there.

I tried Albion, wasn't a fan of it at all. I don't want any kind of autoattack, each attack should be intentional, both in targeting and execution.

    • RE: About that AMA on 30.04...

@THH was it a disappointing AMA or overinflated expectations?

Personally, they answering the longest running questions, which makes sense. They avoided questions they may not have answers for, and they disregarded elements that maybe aren't high priority at all.

Just a for instance, many people think just being able to beta test is reward enough, and as new content gets added, beta testers will return to test. From the very beginning, we who signed up for thisAlpha and Beta knew the only reward we'd be getting for testing was the ability to test, and to have an affect on the eventual game itself. To many, that is more than enough.

Also, always expect politics in public address from a company standpoint. Not because of any shady business, but because a company can be bound by what they say, so they have to be careful what that is.

    • RE: Quality of life: Requests to dev team

@Bullen said in Quality of life: Requests to dev team:

      Add 'take all' loot button

Pretty sure they already shot this one down completely before.

Possible Reasons: They want you to take a few seconds to loot a corpse, choosing what you want to take, and risking another Mob/PvPer showing up to interrupt you.

Also, this adds a low grade time sink to the game, making the game appear longer.

This is a similar reason to why they aren't going to let you auto-gather out in the wild. They don't want automatic systems, they want active players doing things.

    • RE: "Fight the good fight!"

@Tuoni The Devs want combat to be Click intensive and Target uncertain. That is why they are using the combat system they are using. If you made it auto-attack/auto-target, then you would free your mouse up to do other things and leave the character on autopilot...instead of having to choose when you stop clicking attacks to do something else with your mouse.

This is all 100% intentional, so they aren't going to add in any systems that take away from that combat experience.

As to Evils going to Arborea, other than raids, they can only go there for like 30 mins at a time, and PvP is still disabled for them. They can only attack players during Raids specifically...at least that is the understanding.
