The tanning process is similar to Life is Feudal. Nice graphical rendering 👍

    • RE: Idea for the Game: Player Beacons

I hope the vendor system is similar to SWTOR where all the players upload their items to a vendor stall. Then the city has a few stalls located in different spots around the city where all the same items can be viewed that to me is ideal from a merchant point of view. You don't have to advertise and players don't have to search. The stall could have buy-it-now or auction style options. Players will naturally price fix on who can under cut the most depending on supply and demand only...not selling location. Those items made with the rarer materials would be able to be auctioned off at the highest price without having to setup an auction event.

I loved SWTOR but I just got tired of the level grind on 16 toons. That is something that interests me here.

There has to be something to engage the players in the end game. What is planned for end game material for players that do not wish to pvp? Because once players have seen all they can see and finished their skills they need something to do. Hunt for rares? Hunt for achievements? Maybe install some kind of player tools to host their own server events.

I don't think it hurts to mention your desires in the forums. The game is in development which means things can and I'm sure will change as people post ideas and expectations. That is part of testing a game in alpha. Problem with rpg style missions is it takes a writer to do these on a regular basis. That means an event coordinator after release. All the mmos I've played that kept one of these on hand made the game alot more fun. They can't. however, output one of these as fast as people complete them.

SWTOR, in my opinion, has the best rpg of any mmo I've played. There are 16 character paths you can take if I remember correctly between republic and imperial sides. These story arcs expanded with each expansion. They came with dramatic cut scenes that made you feel part of the adventure.

Dialogue like that is very nice because it feels more like a story. Even so they still required you to go fetch or kill a certain amount of targets lol. It was weaved into a nice story though.

Rather than beacons I hope we see a nice mapping utility similar to UO Automap or UO Mapper. I'd like to see a pullup map that will mark icons and tags on it so that I can find my way around 😀

As far as marketplaces go I know I was involved in at least one discussion where it was hoped that each city would only have 1 market location where all players uploaded their goods.

What is considered an extended leave? Most assuredly there should be some consideration for time spent on say a 2 week vacation with your family somewhere.

Then maybe incorporate something like a bedroll to quick logout out in the wilderness. Have a mechanic in place that won't allow this if you are in combat. I don't want to be playing then have something happen that I have to immediately get off the game and then log back in the next time with my guy dead because he was sitting around still in the game even though I had logged. The game is a game and my life is real. The game is not. Alot of people want too much reality and do not understand games can't incorporate that level of reality. We play games to have fun--not work 🙂

    • RE: Town Sieges

@Znirf That is really good to hear. I mention it so that for the planning stages things are considered that hurt other games. UO has a bank box that holds items you can retrieve from any city bank. Alot of other games have this same kind of setup. It makes for ease of play for a player because no one wants to spend endless amounts of time between adventuring to regear. Also no one wants to spend weeks or months accumulating stuff that is gone in the blink of an eye.

      Thanks for the reply 🙂

    • Town Sieges

I was reading where there are going to be town sieges and that your houses within a town siege can be destroyed. I hope that does not mean that your secure storage location is not all that secure. From playing other sandboxes like Atlas, DayZ, Life is Fuedal, etc.. logging off only to log in and find everything gone is game killing. I understand like in UO there needs to be a point you refresh stuff so that you don't tie up real estate that others wish to use while you are not playing the game. However, if you have to guard your possessions while you are not playing is a bit much for me. Those games that do allow other players to swoop in and take all that you own while you are offline get scathing bad reviews.

Life is Feudal had a judgment hour every day that your settlement was vulnerable to attack. If you couldn't be online to play that was your fault. Building in LIF took weeks for some buildings with 100's of hours of playing time from multiple players. One judgment hour could wipe everything out. Needless to say entire guilds quit the game. I'm not even sure the state of this game any more because so many people quit playing the game. From the reviews for Atlas I'm seeing the same thing. If I find that I spent a month working with friends to build a town only to have another group come in and wipe it out in a day, I'm not sure I would be long for the game afterwards. Just saying.

    • RE: Scroll of teleportation 🌀⏳

@Jetah Yea it's a different game....in name like all other games. That doesn't mean you can't incorporate game mechanics that work. Being able to teleport around is vital to all sand boxes. Players do not like to waste time travelling from one location to another especially if it is to get to a secure location to log off. I know myself I play as much as I can right up to the point of logging. If I have to travel 10-15 minutes to get to a secure location that can be a problem especially when you are suffering from wife aggro lol.

I asked about these because they would become "rares" to those players that like to collect that stuff. I've found those make for great income as a vendor lol.

    • RE: Let's borrow some ideas from other games!

I like purchasing systems like UO, SWTOR and many more where your money is banked and when you make a purchase anywhere in the game it is withdrawn automatically. I assume currency is going to have some kind of weight system which means when items eventually get to the point they cost so much you won't be able to carry enough to buy some items. I understand players want to full loot gold so until it hits the bank it is open season. That's pretty common for sandbox games.

Actually this is what the bronze says

A sturdy chest made of bronze and walnut wood. What secrets does it hold? Open it in game to receive a random reward out of several Rare skins for your armor, mounts, and pets!

It doesn't actually say it is consumed. So what I'm asking is can these be made by the devs so we can decorate with them? 😁
