    • RE: Steam Sale!

I have several on my wish list but the new Battletech expansion is probably my next purchase. I'm playing through Pathfinder Kingmaker for the second time right now. I think most the bugs have been worked out so I might actually be able to finish it lol.

    • RE: Real Crafting

The price of an item in every game I've played with a rich crafting system has been tied to the resources involved in the crafted item. In many of these games I have been at a disadvantage due to macro resource gathering. As long as this is controlled then I'm in a fair market.

As with any fair market model for buying/selling it is going to be based upon supply and demand That is the cornerstone of a free market. If players want to come along and undercut their profit margin by unloading their stuff cheaper that's fine. Markets stabilize at a price that players are comfortable with concerning their profit margin they wish to obtain. If you can keep up the supply and still undercut others then that makes you a good businessman. If that supply is kept up with macroing resources then the system fails for everyone else.

Some games I've played have had systems in place for special materials required or an item quality based upon your tools and skill. These systems were implemented to produce varieties of items so that the market didn't have loads of the same stuff with a didn't crafter's name on them. I'm fine with those systems as well as long as they are not too complicated and burdensome.

Life is Feudal's system was the worst for quality I have ever had to deal with. You literally got one hit off your tool and building you used before all other items crafted degraded below 100% quality. Each successive crafted item was lower quality until the point you had to remake your entire shop and replace your tool. SWG had a very intricate quality system on their materials used in crafting. However, the problem with their system is they rotated resource nodes so that it could be months before you ever saw a high quality on a particular resource needed for some items. Crafters could sell resources sometimes for higher prices than even the final products.

Whatever is used in Fractured crafting/vendoring is my favorite thing to do so it is one topic I plan to try to follow.

@Meiki Oh yea definitely something for an expansion. I wouldn't want to see the base game side tracked.

I was just wondering if there is any possibility that city nodes might expand to the underworld? I always liked the idea of the UnderDark in D&D lol.

That's one popular mmo I never tried. I didn't like the colorful kid style graphics lol.

@Specter So does that mean we have some kind of transportation like ships, either air or sea? I only saw stuff on mounts. Or is it all going to be by gating?

@Specter So when you say they will generate new lands, does that mean that the world does not wrap around on the map? Are the borders hard edges meaning a brick wall? If so that makes for expansions quite easy but over time will making travel very long from one side to the other lol.

    • RE: Dedicated Town Sections

SWG left town planning to the players. Some towns were nicely laid out and organized. Others were sprawling mazes of disaster lol. We had a hand full of people who were allowed to place building deeds and there was a planned style of where buildings went. Even then everything didn't lay out nice and perfect sometimes lol.

    • RE: Pledge Packs Are Going... With A Sale!

Another thing about jumping into the game earlier is now you came here faster than those other people. You got newsletters that they won't receive. You earned more freebies in the game in the form of cosmetics that they will not receive. I've tried to recover those newsletters that somehow must have found their way into my spam folder. I lost out on 500 forum points just on those few I saw I missed. If you purchased any early bird pack you have received 2000 foundation points from all the newsletters. Those who are coming here now for those cheaper packs lost all of that. They have no way of getting those points. Maybe look on that and feel a bit better.

The point is you want to play the game. If you get your enjoyment out of it then you made a good investment 👌

@Pluto It is common practice for purchase prices of games to go down though. You did get into alpha 1 while those new guys coming around won't get in until alpha 2. They missed an alpha phase if it helps you justifying their lower cost. Their cost is roughly 10-20% lower? I don't even buy games on Steam unless they start hitting the 50% or higher from my wishlist. That's when I felt I have gotten a deal lol.

    • RE: Ultima Online

My community played UO for about 7 years (1998-2005). I think what made it great was it was the first game of its kind. The game itself had its flaws. I broke many a mouse throwing them, banging them etc. So much so I had spares on the shelf behind me. It didn't help I had to play on dialup lol. Still it was where we built our community which then continued to other games. We have tried since then to repeat that feel of community and the only other game that felt right was SWG. I think the problem is most games give quick results for player activity. In the early days of UO it took most of us sparring everyday 6 months just to gm tactics. Later on changes were made and you could get it in hours. It was that 6 months of sparring that all we could do was sit at the computer and type to each other. That's where the community was built. The youngins today have no patience and want those big results for little effort. Devs match those young player desires. My 2 cents anyway.

Personally I feel if you have that kind of cash to throw down on a game why would a 10% or so difference make any difference to you. If you spent more than you should have....well we have all been there and had some regrets later lol.

I hated UO when they added customized housing. The landscape became something out of a freak show. I like it better if the housing is regional.

    • RE: So... Legends of Aria

I tried very early with some guys from our community We all formed in UO so it was reliving some good memories for us. For me however it was like the old ial up days my lag was that bad. Plus the UI was clunky. We didn't last long. I read up some more since it's been awhile and now all the complaints are about pks. Not my kind of game. I tried UO Outlands which is a free server for UO ran fairly well but also plagued with pks. I just hate playing in games with players whose only fun is making others suffer.

Actually if I remember right from the kickstarter those who jumped in on early bird pledges actually got them cheaper than those who came to the campaign later. So depending upon when you found the kickstarter and pledged you may have actually gotten it cheaper as others followed. I haven't looked but maybe these discounted prices are early bird prices.

I was happy to upgrade cheaper either way 👍

I like when a guild can display its colors. Tabards/Flags would be cool.

    • RE: Multi-account

Was doing some searching for some topics and found this one. I know it is quite old but still an issue for me. I run more than one computer in my game room from which myself, my wife and my son game from. I'm not savvy on networking as I should be but does this mean that we are not going to be able to play together?
