I would really like to see npc shops/auction houses that you can just load items into. I do not want to peddle my wares as a vendor in person. That is a huge waste of time plus chat spam from this is horrid. I would like these to be easily maintained so that I can relist unsold items with the click of a button.

RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
There are also other ways to grief without direct PvP. Blue killers were notorious in Trammel. The most used in UO was to lure spawn to players and then hide. Kill stealers, blue healers, I'm sure the list can go on for more examples. Point is how do you control griefing in its many forms? Evil players can hide behind any alignment.

RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
@GamerSeuss I agree with everything you pointed out. One thing I will say is if the human world has complete PvP then it is nothing but another PvP world. There has to be enough restrictions to PvP to make it different from the demon world or PvE players will not go there. I fully expect to hear a huge uproar from the PvP players once the game launches because the demon world will have so little population. It wasn't long after Trammel released in UO and many of the PvP players quit the game because they had no one to bully since all the PvE players moved from Felucia (their demon world). Most PvP players don't want a straight up battle. The big guilds will try to recruit all the best PvP players and then hunt in huge packs basically having no real challenge. Guild wars and other organized PvP events are what I call real PvP game mechanics. PKing is just anti-social behavior that ruins the game in my opinion.
Also aren't evil players allowed to come to the beast world? If that is the case and they can come pk players then there is no true all PvE world. There is no real Trammel in this game if pking is allowed on the PvE world.

RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
For all of those that don't want to PvP right now: just don't do the current testing phase. Having a game ruined by alpha and even beta is why I don't even do testing any more. I prefer to wait for the actual game to get my thrills from it. You are always going to be let down when you are in the testing phase. That is why I was so vocal when the devs asked if they should launch on Steam as an alpha release. No way! When the game isn't ready to go you just drive players away and give your game a bad name. The test team should be dedicated testers, not people wanting to be entertained.
Also OlivePit if players are expected to go to the demon world to complete POIs for the knowledge tree then absolutely no can you complete the entire tree without PvP. I haven't gone through the entire tree to see what is required but I know there was talk that many of the points would be located on each world to force players to visit them. Maybe that has changed. It would be nice if players could complete their knowledge trees entirely from the world they choose to live on. Otherwise you are not giving players the choice of their playstyle.

RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
@r6G4596Y7G9AwD0TzJTxFSZx I also mistakenly read the roadmap as server wide changes. These are only for the human world since this is what the test is about. If you read through the FAQ as was pointed out there are three worlds: beastman (PvE), deamon (PvP), and human (mixed). I do tend to agree with the assessment that if you force players into playstyles that they do not like you are only forcing them to choose to leave or not. As UO pointed out PvE and PvP players are like oil and water and do not mix. Setting up the knowledge tree so players are forced to play on planets they do not want to be on will force those players into deciding if the points are worth playing a way they do not want to play. For those players that wish to complete the knowledge tree they will have a real choice to make on whether to continue their play experience or not.

RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
I thought the game was meant to be played by each player with their type of game play. The three worlds are supposed to cater to each type. So my question is are all these PvP changes going into effect for all worlds or just the worlds that have open PvP? A PvE player should be able to do anything on the beast world without having any involvement with PvP because that is the playstyle they chose. In contrast a PvP player should be able to do anything they want in PvP on the demon world without any penalty. The only balancing act should be the human world where you have both.
I see these worlds populated with the beast world completed overcrowded. The demon world will be deserted and the human world is where all the crying will come from.

@GamerSeuss Completely agree with you.

RE: What are people playing while waiting for the next Alpha?
I've often thought about the online D&D but for me it is more about hanging out and socializing. Our group is so bad about sitting down at the table and then going off on some tangent. Before we realize it we have talked an hour and our caravan hasn't even left the town lol. I'm not sure we would have that online.

RE: What are people playing while waiting for the next Alpha?
@Gibbx Oh heck yea. My DND group has been meeting regularly through the whole virus. As adults it's hard to find time slots. Our table top game club is about to fire up our monthly gatherings in July again. We do rpgs, card games and board games. We usually handle all the gaming at the area cons. Much fun. I also prefer in person game playing.

RE: What are people playing while waiting for the next Alpha?
@BitterLoD I love turn based games and since Battletech is one of my favorite board games I enjoy it. I have all the DLC and Flashpoint is the one I like the most. You can get mods at the Nexus but I haven't used any of those. I'd like to use the Galaxy at War mod but couldn't get it to work for me. There's a new one out that let's you play from 3025-3065 which I do believe has the clans invading. They included the entire Inner Sphere map in that mod which has planets changing hands. There are just alot of mods to install for that so I've not jumped in.
XCom 2 is bar far the best computer game I have ever played. I actually just played that again before Battletech. The mod community converted the entire game to a Star Wars theme so I played the clones vs the droid army. One thing about mods in that game is you have to be careful not to get any that conflict. It was pretty cool having jedi with force abilities. I wish they would just make a Star Wars version of XCom.

I'm playing another Battletech play through. It's my 4th now lol.

RE: Treasure Maps
@GamerSeuss As Jetah was saying if there is no reason to go kill mobs for loot then why will people go kill mobs? Knowledge? Exploration? Those get done quickly. Then what? PvE players LIKE to grind for loot. That IS what makes the game fun for them lol.
PvP players can compare no loot for PvE players from mobs as having PvP with no loot from their kills. Oh the shame! Now if the devs decided no loot from killing other players I'd bet the PvP players would think that quite boring.

RE: Treasure Maps
I like the idea of cosmetic drops as loot. Not everyone who backed the kickstarter did so for the sole reason that everything is player crafted. I for one find it already boring sounding that creatures will have very little in the means of loot drops. What will be the endgame chasers to keep players playing? City building? Knowledge completion? You can't say pvp wars because a good majority of players in mmos do not like pvp. Those pve players usually chase the hardest pve fights with the hopes of nice loot drops. Anyway that's off the subject of treasure maps and already been argued to death. I don't see a reason why treasure maps can't be introduced that could lead to cosmetics as rewards. Cosmetics loot is probably enough to make the pve loot chasers happy and not change the primary focus of the game concerning items.

RE: Rock Walls: Bad Idea
It has seemed the devs from the get go have wanted travel to be one of the main obstacles to overcome in the game. There are no fast travel options and if they have put unpassable terrain in it is because they want you to take longer to get to the destination.

RE: Plot unkeep
House decays was very profitable in UO. In fact, that is how alot of players made their cash. It was a very time consuming job; you had to find the houses decaying by clicking each sign, try to estimate the time it had left and confirming that by going back each day to check the sign, then sitting several hours the day it was to fall because you didn't know the exact hour. You hoped you were the only one but as soon as that house dropped the 100 of hidden players popped out and it was like an easter egg dash for the prizes lol. Fun times

RE: City Sieges Live & All-Backers Event
I'm anxious to hear how these go. This topic could make or break the game as everyone will be affected by this mechanic in a major way.

RE: How many Players ...
I wouldn't really consider the player base any kind of indicator of the game right now.
-
RE: Changing stats from 1~25 to to a larger number for future possible growth
I don't see any changes like this simply because they have said from the beginning they want players to be able to new characters able to compete with old ones. Higher stats with much higher bonuses will definitely defeat that notion.

RE: Cities feel too much like grid paper
I like straight lines lol. Plus it maximizes space
