Has there even been any mention of a coin system? Since npcs don't drop coins how will coins get into the system? Npc missions? Crafting to sell to npcs?

RE: Missing my news letter in my e-mail.
I've found that merely opening the email doesn't click the points off on the quests. I have found that clicking all the links in the newsletter does the trick lol.

RE: Monster infrequent weapons?
The barter system is nothing other than another currency system. Each item will still have a coin value. However, instead of carrying coins of fairly little weight you will have to carry bulky items that require much more weight. That in turn will limit the value of transactions because you won't be able to transfer 100 swords worth 1000 gp as it would to just carry 1000 gp of coins. If you are lucky you will be able to store several items of varying values so you can easily make "change".
I liked the systems that were in later UO expansions and SWTOR. Your money was stored in the bank and each transaction was done via "check" where you bought an item and the money was directly removed from your bank to the other player's account. It's hard to do a transaction with a player in person when each person has a limited carrying weight. "Oh wait a second I can't carry all of that to make this trade. Wait a few minutes while I run home to get rid of some of my inventory."
I don't want complete realism. I want quality of life systems to speed up game functions to give me more time to do fun stuff. If you want to see a system as you are all talking about go check out Life is Feudal. I've mentioned it before. See how successful they have been with no loot drops, player only crafting, barter trading (resources of varying values became the preferred method by players), time sinks for everything you do, etc... It was basically a dead game by the time they launched their full game into the mmo.

RE: Monster infrequent weapons?
How are players going to make money? Are we going to take quests from npcs to go kill x number of y type of creatures and return for your reward? If that is how I have to make money that is going to get really old. If you say you make money by crafting and selling your stuff where do people get money to buy things? It can't be loot chests just lying around because those will be camped. I hope kills at least drop money. If that is the case and it is only realistic creatures that have that stuff then those areas are going to be camped. Better have lots of camps spread out.

RE: Monster infrequent weapons?
You guys crack me up when you want realistic explanations for a fantasy game in which most of it is not real lol. A game needs to be enjoyable not explainable. For me hunting will be rather boring if all you get in loot drops are mats. I highly doubt rare mats will be dropping from bunnies. To that regard there will never be a reason to kill one or any other creature that will not drop the rare mats. Basic mats will be dropping on everything which means the supply will heavily outweigh the demand.

RE: Monster infrequent weapons?
I will still argue that hunting will get boring if all you get as drops are mats. Loot drops are what make killing mobs fun for me. If people want to rationalize where the loot comes from many monsters have lairs. This can be the lair loot.

RE: This game will it be free to play someday?
I know most of the people I game with won't jump into a game that requires a sub. When I pitch a game to our community one of the first things they ask is if it requires one. Most of them feel that if they are paying a sub they need to be playing that game or they are wasting money. With the amount of games that come out you end up feeling like you have locked yourself out of playing other games. For me, in the past, when I subbed on games like UO or SWTOR those were exclusively the games I played for years.

RE: How big should guilds allowed to be?
With the requirements to fulfill from the knowledge tree though you will have both sides complaining about each area lol.

RE: How big should guilds allowed to be?
@Gothix You're right. One thing may be fun for one person and not another. Those proclamations I made I said were for me. If you played Life is Feudal for a month you would know where I'm coming from lol. Some people do like to be tortured while they play. I'd suggest that game for them. Myself I'm trying to steer the progression of this game's development away from those aspects that are not fun for me. Selfish maybe but that is the reason why I'm here; to help progress this game into something I enjoy

RE: How big should guilds allowed to be?
If food becomes to the point you start dying from starvation then this game is not for me. I don't want real world mechanics in a game that's supposed to be fun. I don't want to be spending all my time working to stay alive. I want time to explore, build and just have fun.
I don't want mechanics that will allow jerks to cause problems within my guild so I don't want friendly fire between guild mates unless they can turn it on and off or goto an instanced battlefield where they can pvp. I want consensual combat between friendlies. In fact, I want to limit as many mechanics as possible that can lead to griefing. In real life I would have more tools in my arsenal to deal with these kinds of people. It's called the law and it comes with its own set of punishments. I can't get that kind of justice in a game. So when you are thinking guild hopping and griefing is just part of a game I say bs. It doesn't have to be. I shouldn't haven't to vette a new guild member as if I was hiring someone for a top secret project.
Anyway those are my rants on some of the subjects in the thread lol.

RE: This game will it be free to play someday?
I used to like subs for mmos because that evened the playing field for all players. However, I realized a sub made me feel like i had to play and then it became "I gotta get my money's worth" and I just quit playing all other games. So now if a game requires a sub I just pass it by even if it looks good. By the time you have played a game with a sub for a year you could have bought 2-3 other nice games.

RE: How big should guilds allowed to be?
I like the idea of being able to turn it off and on so that guild members can practice pvp with each other. I also like the idea of being able to turn it off and on with alliances as well for the same thing. You can't have constant pvp between allies because the leaders will constantly be having to monitor and police the dicks that guild hop just to cause problems between guilds. There is no amount of interviewing or vetting that can prevent these kinds of people from joining guilds just to create issues within them. Leaders can only react to their havoc they cause which can then be an everyday tedious chore.
I would like to see options of banning accounts from guilds as well so that players who try to do this with one character are then prevented from bringing in characters under other names.

RE: New Quest Rewards Needed (Forums)
I would say that most people who have reached 200 are coming here for updates and being involved ion the process rather than being enticed by cosmetic rewards. I'm not going to turn them down but I don't think they are necessary lol.

RE: How big should guilds allowed to be?
I like the idea of limits. From a guildmaster point of view having a limit of 100 or less would have actually been enjoyable for me anyway. I usually spent at least an hour a day doing guildstone stuff. I'm guessing this limit is per character and not per account. When you add that in then you lower the numbers even more.
