    • RE: is it possible to become a hit man

There was a jail in UO. It basically was a place you were put if you got caught macroing or other lesser charges. I was there a few times for macroing lol. If I remember right there was a time limit and then you hit a gate and left or was it when you logged in next you were teleported to Brit gate. I can't remember.. I even remember macroing in jail lol. Seems no one ever checked there for offenders.

An island that no one could go to other than criminals sent there would be similar to the jail in UO. I'm not sure exactly how much players would like running around with no gear trying to evade death. I also feel there should be a point you get locked into perma criminal status. Either that or have one hell of a penalizing system to remove it. Nothing destroys a game for me more than griefers and players who take joy only in making other players upset.

@Xzoviac Explain how this system would work with game mechanics. Where would this jail exist? How would you escape? What would be the obstacles to escape? When you escaped where would you end up on the map?

Since you lose everything when you die, is the prison going to reequip you? If you manage to escape is it to a set location? Wouldn't other players be camping this location to just kill you again once you escape?

I'm hoping resource locations are randomized on a timer/cooldown. It would also be nice if they were similar to SWG resources where each resource was not a static type such as valorite from UO but had randomized properties for crafting purposes. They properties were set by the spawn and may never repeat from location to location.

Actually the way we came up with for a bounty system to work was for the killer to have to post the bounty. Our system was based upon the number of kills the murderer had translated into a set amount of bounty. When someone killed the murderer the amount of gold transferred from the hunted to the hunter's account. If the hunted did not have enough gold in their account they had a login ban for 24 hours. The amount of kills would never reset so you were basically perma red (term from UO).

PKs didn't like this system idea and cried hard and long in the forums that if such a system was enacted they would quit. Nevermind there were no penalties to pking and the devs liked it that way. Needless to say all the players I knew quit the server because you literally couldn't go anywhere without being pked.

Are you asking if there are tools in the game to facilitate this idea? You can do anything that you want to do within the scope of the game.

Back to the question though. The only way I see your hitman being so far within the game is someone offering you money or goods to kill another player. That would require you finding the person (near impossible) and then catching the person in an area where they can be attacked. If they are a demon then you would be able to kill them at some point. If they are a beastman then trying to kill them would be harder. They would have to be caught in the demon lands.

If you were asking if the game would allow someone to put a bounty on their head then you track them ingame to find them. I don't think that mechanic exists as of right now. This was talked about in UO alot in the forums. It did exist at one period of time there. What is basically amounted to was giving gold to the people you actually put the bounty upon. They would simply have a friend kill them once they saw their name on the bounty board. This was a queue you were asked when killed by someone. Often the person dying would be so mad they would put money on the head of their killer. This as I said just became a bonus for the looting they already did.

On the other hand, operating as someone killing those that kill is quite doable. Simply go find and kill all those with evil karma. Whether they are guilty of anything against another player would be questionable since alot of these players will start the game as evil lol.

Firefly Online. The Cortex on steam was supposed to prepare players for the game. Sadly the game died with no explanation to anyone 😞

If people are wanting realism allow players to buy maps from npcs that improve what you can find in detail.

Hope we get something like UO Map with all sorts of tools we can use to mark locations explored and even connect with friends to keep track of each other.

@Razvan Thanks for that repost from the dev. That clears up the info on karma for beastmen and demons 🙂 Well as usual humans are the wishy washy people who can be anything lol.

I also suspect people will go down the path to become an angel just for bragging rights.

I assume beastmen can do enough evil based karma stuff to become evil as well and the same for demons to become good. Right? Seems the karma is a sliding scale like UO was. If that is the case then over time the lines will blur on what to expect out of each race. Alot of people like that challenge to goto the other extreme than that which you had to start lol.

There will be a karma penalty for those with good karma I thought in the demon lands. The neutral lands have no penalties for either karma right? I assume the evil karma players will be killing each other in demon lands but I suspect just like Felucia few will venture there. Good based characters won't go there to pvp because of the penalties but will be looking for players in the neutral lands where no penalties exist for either side. I probably need to read up more on the lands lol.

    • RE: Extra races on Syndesia

So basically in terms of UO we have Trammel and Felucia with another facet which is kind of Felucia without the karma penalties ticking away at you. Anyone can be any alignment over time so the races will eventually become a blur as to who is "good" or "evil". Sounds like the human lands will be the pvp grounds since being good or evil doesn't have any bearing on passive karma penalties. Beastman lands will probably be the most populated while the demon lands will be the least. My take anyway.

    • RE: Extra races on Syndesia

My take unless I'm wrong is beastmen are good and their planet is good based. On the opposite side are demons which they are evil and their planet is as well. If you are the opposite alignment on the planet you are flagged and immediately start a countdown on penalties that continue to worsen the longer you remain on the opposite alignment planet.

I was under the impression as human you are neutral and do not flag unless you slip one way or the other.

There is no white on white pvp as you put it because I thought because the good aligned world is no pvp period except during town raids. I guess if you goto the evil planet you could in essence attack anyone you want. I guess my question would be can beastmen and demons change alignment? I haven't read up much on the angel path.

    • RE: Extra races on Syndesia

I thought the flagging system was karma based not race based. A character isn't locked in their karma from what I understand which means a player can be any race and any karma given time. I also don't think you become banished from any planet which would imply you can't go there. If you are an opposed karma you suffer penalties not locked out from going there. How else would someone from another alignment obtain knowledge unlocks that require you to goto another planet?

    • RE: Dungeons that are time locked

SWTOR has something similar to this where it is events that happen only every so many months. They will last a weekend and then are gone again until the next random time they begin again. SWTOR has a really nice event system. The rewards are cosmetic in nature and sometimes change from event to event making them become collectibles.

    • RE: Best mmo features

SWTOR had fun housing where your house was in fact a huge expanse of a planet. Also loved the cut scenes for parts of your storylines with voiced npcs. It was watching a movie.

SWG had a nice city management system. Loved their dancing profession that came with music and group routines. Your will bar had to be improved by going to a cantina to watch dancers. Because of this cantinas were social hangouts. I liked the shuttle services that allowed you to move around on a planet.

SWG had a hairdresser profession. If there was a specific haircut you wanted you had to find one of those hairdresser stations and someone who could use it. Funny stuff.

If guildies could kill each other then there would be alot of infighting within guilds. I'd hate to have to be the guildmaster for such a situation.

The problem I saw with friendly fire within guilds in UO was someone joining the guild with the sole intention of killing everyone they could before being booted.
