    • RE: Anyone else concerned how the last design journal was literally two years ago?

They periodically put out news to show progress. You somehow found yourself here so that means you saw some kind of advertising for it 🙂

With it in testing most of the design is going to be in polishing the game not polishing the website.

    • RE: Why this game is not fun

For one people should not flame you for posting your opinions on what would improve the game for you 👍

I tend to agree on the left clicking spam for attacking. Reminds me of Diablo. I have always preferred a more strategic combat system with targeting lock. I loved SWTOR combat system with target lock/cycle and a skill bar. However, this is the system they chose and for players who know their crap it isn't about spamming but about cycling the right combos of skills. I was never really good at that fast paced button mashing style of console playing though so I feel ya lol.

I've seen several players say in past threads mages were OP. From what I have seen in those threads it is a matter of correct spell types for combat.

MMOs and sandboxes have always been hard work for what you earn in the game. Thinking that a house is something you are entitled to at creation is not the proper way to approach the game. Not just UO but many other games buying your first house was one of your first major achievements.

Dying and losing everything while spawning back at a location too far to retrieve your stuff does stink. SWG started out that way but soon after release made some changes. There is supposed to be quicker ways to travel in the game from what I have has been discussed via mounts and gates. Whether your mount dies as well when you do or it is something bound to you I'm not sure. No matter though in this game you are going to have to expect to lose your stuff when dying. I fully expect that I will either keep tons of extra gear in storage or I will be done each day with exploring after each death to make/buy new stuff. Crafting is supposed to be easy and in turn supposed to be easy to rearm and get back at it.

With that said every game has a learning curve and growing pains. Alpha/beta testing is not the time to make a rash decision to quit playing a game. It is a time to take a break and come back later when it is released to see if you like it after being polished. This is the reason I don't do testing anymore lol..

    • RE: Why we need attribute respec options.

@Lemdul81 I respectively disagree this becomes pay-to-win adding respec to the cash store. That implies changing your stats gives you some advantage in the game. It is just a redistribution of the points you already had. Just because you get something for cash does not make it play to win. It has to give you an edge over other players. They are already selling ingame items in the cash store such as pets and furniture so the idea that they are making money off ingame items is already there. I see no problem with cash purchases in lieu of a sub to make money on their product. I would be one of the loudest complainers if they added items to the store that gave people advantages in the game.

    • RE: Why we need attribute respec options.

I think this subject has been debated recently fairly hard in another thread. I for one am for it because people have regrets over decisions they made sometimes in hast. With that said I think it should be used as a cash purchase for real money. Gives the devs a way to make cash beyond the release. I think there should be a delay between respecs to prevent players from trying to gain advantages for special circumstances.

    • RE: What's The Stance on "Foul Language"?

@grofire Hate speech does not exist? You have got to be kidding. Racism is the epitome of speech with a root in hatred. A player should not have to endure that kind of language in the game. In fact, there is no place for it in the world either. It is a sad individual who has that much hatred in them.

I'm hoping someone at least comes out with a UO Mapper style third party program if they don't.

    • RE: Housing Blueprints

@Ostaff Yes it is bad coding to allow others to destroy/steal your stuff while you are offline. Players don't live in the mmo 24/7. You can't mimic real life.

    • RE: Housing Blueprints

I'm not sure you will be able to attack other player housing in raids. However, if you would like to see what it is like when other players can destroy the stuff you make give Life is Feudal a try. I think you will change your mind about being able to do that. In that game it takes hours even days to build, heck even weeks to finish off a castle. It then only takes minutes to destroy.

I wonder if you can allow others to use the same houses and what about guild housing.

House plans differ only in appearance correct? I think I read somewhere each house will take the same plot size. How is storage affected? Any other differences?

    • RE: What I "DO NOT" want to see in this game

@humerus Well I didn't know spawns would drop gold. That's great news. I know there were several discussions where it was pointed out that if spawn only dropped resources for crafting then hunting would be boring. I didn't know that this decision had been changed. Awesome!

    • RE: What I "DO NOT" want to see in this game

On your first point I do believe player cities are going to be tested next test. I was a little confused by the statement but I think you are saying an individual just buys all the plots and basically owns the city. I don't think that is possible here because you can have only one plot per planet.

On gathering, spawn does not drop gear. I'm not even sure they drop gold. I think at this point they only drop resources. I'm not even sure it has been discussed how coins are put into the economy.

As far as your freedom goes, I'm guessing you are free to go anywhere as long as you can live lol. I'm not sure how that applies to guilds though. I'm pretty sure the guild size idea has been debated at great length thus far. I guess it depends upon the perks of being in a specific guild beyond just who you want to hang with in the game.

    • RE: Suggestion: Currency names

@FibS I did some googling and you were right about the silver standard. It seems google says 60% of the world is on the dollar standard meaning most countries' currency value is compared to the dollar value. I guess because we have the most gold reserves. That's a sad state of the world when our country is so far in debt 😞

Anyway that's off topic sorry. I still would rather not see different currency mechanics in the game that introduces exchange rates. I prefer the normal mmo standard of one currency and in this case gold.

    • RE: Governor of Multiple Locations.

@Tuoni I wonder if it has been considered by the devs rule that one character or one player should not control more than one city. If it is one player then there will need to be controls in place to not allow a single ip to own more than one city. This would not just stop other characters on your account but not allow other accounts as well. Oversight or was the single character the reasoning and not the player? Otherwise, as humerus pointed out, we will have the huge territory controls put into place by extremely large guilds.

    • RE: PvE Planet with PvP

It could mean when your 30 mins is up you have run out of life. I have seen games where you were in an area that drained life and when you ran out of time you just died. The "porting" maybe you resing to your last bind spot lol.

    • RE: Suggestion: Currency names

@egonaraujo Sorry but that is not how currency in the real world works. Real world currency is a promissory note backed by the rare metal upon which the currency standard is in use. In the real world that is either gold or silver if I'm not mistaken. In our game world we will be trading with the actually rare metals so there would be no exchange fees. Your gold coin is worth the same as any other gold coin no matter whose stamp is on it.

Back to game mechanics this would be just a devaluation of the most densely populated worlds because they will be generating more coins. This is unfair to those players. Gold is gold no matter where it is generated in my opinion.

    • RE: PvE Planet with PvP

@humerus Oh I'm all for the 3 different planets and their different pvp styles. I was merely stating why I didn't like the demon planet over the others for the reasons that particular pvp style is not my personal flavor 😉 I'm just glad the devs have given us the option to avoid that play style. But also I know there are other forms of griefing easily accomplished by "blue" players.

Here is my opinion on how the population density will compare from my mmo experiences:

      1. Beast planet will be most densely populated planet (best secure your house early)
      2. Human planet will be next and their pvm areas will be the most densely traveled
      3. Demon planet will be desolate and the players there will be complaining on the forums they have too few players to murder/gank. They will be arguing in the forums to add more open pvp to the other lands. The good thing is you will have plenty of housing options.

Again this is my opinionated speculation.

    • RE: PvE Planet with PvP

@Gothix Oh I completely agree that your a toon's alignment has very little to do with the alignment of the player. Blue griefers were just as bad to me as the red pks in UO. I hope the devs are vigilant and try to remove the loopholes that players use to grief others as they are discovered.

That's why I said not all pvp is the same. I enjoy organized pvp. I've lost an edge in the hand eye coordination but it's still fun. What I don't like are the griefing and ambush tactics most pks use. They gank you when you are at your most vulnerable such as hitting you while surrounded in pvm aggro or killing a mule who is not even geared/skilled to fight. Then they have the audacity to berate you for being a noob when in fact they were just cowardly turds.
