i did have my starting kingdom in Chronicles of Elyria, several guildies from other games joined in CoE and spend a lot of money (im in for 3k).
My best guess is that they are not moving over... It's not a big issue however.
I have options.

1. start as a free town. (probably need to find a supporting guild that likes to support the town and allow me as a governer, not kicking me out just because they can orp out of boredom )
2. rally up people. howver i am then like all other one man guilds. (slim chance because everyone wants to be a guildleader, however, not impossible.)
   as incentive i think or hope to be able to give perks to people as mayor. (i also hope to start with some advantage in town)
3. Join another guild, abandoning my self made guild. My problem with that is mostly that i am not willing to build my town according to guild rules and stipulations because win-loose etc. which makes things complicated.)

Probably time will flesh out more options and i will get more ideas, currently there is not much to go on. So far i just keep a note of people who are interested and the more they are 'with' me the more i am going to invest in their ideas.

i dont think they will loose (any amount of significant) time (slow-down) on game development when they implement the store and/or other website components.
yes the guy doing the website will spend time and therefore money and resources. but the shop (and also other things) will attrackt more people (paying customers) and thus more money to hire additional developers.
and really... 1 day to do add a male female pic... (you can upload your own pic as well as did i) on a tiomeplan up to 2020... maybe you already have left/abandoned this game in development and play something else by that time.

@gabrinoel well not like the Sound of Music... but music is important. it has many usefull properties! it's usefull in battle to steel the nerve, its .. its.. magical.
and I like to build my town based around musical properties. Dunno how possible it would be to cerate a carnivaleske version of Venice. but one can try... or dream... or sing about it

depends on the game. I rarely play music while gaming. ingame added music (like in GTA V) sometimes... I dont listen cuz i mostly coop with my buddy and then it is disturbing in comms.

MacLeod reminds me of 80's sound... little bit longwinded (matter of opinion)
Hope on Black Wings ... i mostly skip (pro, twitch and youtube) game movies when they have this music added. Lucky for us all we all have different tastes

Apparently there are a lot of people who drag parts of their social circle - their friends, acquaintances, colleagues, work buddies, barbers, dog groomers, frenemies, husbands, wives, secret lovers, overt lovers, "it's complicated" paramours, vicars, and fellow FLGS attendants - into multiplayer games they play.

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I don't have a social circle. If not for my family, where noone else is interested in video games, I'd be alone as a dog.

So whenever I hear some insensitive self-appointed MMO gatekeeper say "hurr durr em-em-ohs are social games you shouldn't play them without a group and the devs should stop catering for carebear casuls like you", I get pretty salty. (Especially since, as I pointed out in Reason #3, MMOs are one of the few games where you can actually meet people.)

I have a social circle (two players of course are not a circle.), but somehow never in a game that I am playing. I still don't get why people get upset if a solo player is gaming in an mmo. (other mmo-not-solo users are so much social. yeah right. mostly -as far as all the games I have played mmo-teams end up in solo players showing off and a bunch of mindless repeaters that want to shout their opinion. why I have an opinion? as a former military I know there is no 'i' or 'me' in 'team'. ) and to form a team you need players that are not part of a team. and if mmo players would be more social there would be less solo players.
so I like the #3 as well.. mmo to meet other players.

@kralith never had that problem. using it for games and professional since windows 3.11 with networks.

when designing a city its primary shape is a choice. The choice would be something like a line of one street with a few side ways. or a more circular one around live giving watee. (well). building layers around it.
some shapes are dictated by the environment. So what shape would ypu prefer and why?
