    • RE: Life leech on spells / enchants / buff abilities

      @Razvan but what about oldschool mmorpgs like WoW that had class with life draining attacks - I´d let it stay in game, as it´s harder to use (if it´s aimed) and not as reliable as life regen or self heals (life leech spell might get resisted and you´re read). Imo it just needs balance as much as permastun possibility (high attack speed build with dual maces and high charisma).

    • Life leech on spells / enchants / buff abilities

      Just wanted to ask how will the life leech be solved.

      In MOBA games (and Fractured should have moba-like gameplay) life leeching is ultimate weapon of carries (dmg dealers).
      In case of DOTA2, Troll warlord or Mortred with satanic are impossible to get rid of (unless you hard disable them). Or worse - dmg tanks (Skeleton king, Naix), who can take the stun and then rape you. Then we have SMITE - ranged carries with life leech are godlike (only counter is reducing of life leech).

      Even old games Like Diablo II (in old versions - like 1,09 i think) had to weaken lifeleech, as it was too strong - in duel tweaker barb vs BvBer you had like 0,0% chance to win, even if you had like 8000hp agains opponents 2500 hp because of his huge damage + life leech.

      In newer games like GRIM DAWN leech was also toned down and some enemies were immune to it - with enough leech you could just facetank them and wait till you destroyed them. Path of Exile has nice life leech however - leeching is not instant, it heals you slowly. Or you CAN leech instantly, but CAN´T regen health - that´s propper approach for horizontlal game imo (some pro for some con).

      Will there be some limitation / procentual cap on leeched magical damage or weapon enchantments; will life leech be dependant on any attribute (except damage) and will any weapon have life leech as passive ability?

    • RE: Upgradable Pets

      @Gothix

      In most games if you wanted to be 100% petmaster, you either sacrificed your offence or defence. In Path of Exile, most of you Yggdrasil skills were minion centered and rest had to go to some defence (or you could go hybrid, but suck at both), in GRIM DAWN all your skills, passives and actives from constellations and all equipment had to improve your pets - but then you were invincible ... but also unable to kill anything by yourself. So yes, why not add some debuff to such skills - something like "you can control more pets, but at the cost of your awareness - you cant check your surroundings as often" --->debuff to saves or something. Or direct debuff to your damage (but only if you pick more minions than 3 - aka only if you go full petmaster).

      But no buffs for me, petmaster only does 3 things:

      1. runs away from danger
      2. debuffs enemy
      3. revives fallen pets

      So I´d only give them debuff, or you only need to grab some slows and stuns and pets will do the rest - wouldnt be balanced 1v1 fight. And imagine 5v5 petmasters (aka 5v30 ) - moment everyone focus fires one dude, his dead.

      Or make it possible to have 3 minions and three summons, but lower all pet´s damage accordingly (the more pets you have, the lower is their damage).

      @Kralith Played SW on release, didn´t try any changed versions. But it was imo the best way to build character - it had horizontal advancement and all that mattered were synergies between weapon sets, actives and passives you picked. Too bad equipment was improving just like in every other mmo 😞

      @Razvan I agree with you ... i´d also like little bit more of choises - tuning your character like for example in Secret world (not getting stronger (bigger numbers) in general, but more specialised.) Let´s have faith in devs 🙂

      @Shivashanti yep, he doesn´t look that much hardcore (only dangerous thing he has is his totem > fireball combo as totem reduces your resists), but not experienced guys will sure get pwn...and many did. Anyway good job sir 👌

      Healing spells damaging undeads - i wouldn´t be surprised, this has been in many games, but against beefy dragon id rather save healing spell for myself (unless there is some kind of huge multiplier of damage...and of course if healing spells can crit at least when used offensively).

    • RE: Upgradable Pets

      So pets are upgradeable - one question.

      In one of the videos we´ve seen summoning of three skeletons. Also, if I remember correctly, you can have up to 3 minions following you ingame (depending on your Charisma). Do summoned creatures count into limit, or can we have both 3 tamed pets and 3 summoned ones, or either one or the other?

      Also summoning skellies will sure be ability, so the ability will have its icon (and will take one out of 8 slots), will taming have the same thing? - will there for example be icon "whistle" to summon your tamed pet and once he reaches you will the ability icon change to "attack enemy i point at" or something? Or will tamed pet not use any slot (in that case summons occupying one slot should be stronger as you have 1/8 fewer slots for other abilities)?

      Thanks

      Just a question - will such menacing monsters like Undead dragon be soloable, when so far players had troubles with goblin shaman and some even with wolves ? Probably gonna take party, right 😄
      Aside of weaknesses, will undead monsters have any kind of "Achiless´s heel" like in many games, where they were either less resistant to some element (mostly fire), material (silver swords for example) or could gods help us (clerics in ADaD 2 were almost specialised in destroying undeads)?

      @Jetah Yep i got it 😛 , but then only one thing would happen - nukers would go full tank, gankers/backstabbers full damage, meta would totally change and everyone would go same build. But idea is good - why not set such rules for "asteroids" - maps you can visit for some challenge. They would last only as long as you visit asteroid and would add to challenge.

    • RE: Enough attackers / defenders during eclipses

      According to the wiki, " leveling up an ability increases its power – be it a stronger effect, increased duration, reduced cooldown, and more. However, they’re always minor differences, mostly interesting on a competitive level.". Even if it's a 10% increase in only one of those areas, if you account for the full bar of skills, the difference becomes significant (think of 100IP difference in Albion - it won't turn a bad player in a formidable adversary, but it makes the difference between 2 equally skilled players).

      This has been changed a while ago, wiki is not very up do date 🙂 Some skills from alpha are missing, some still have "wand and spell saves". Now there are 400 abilities, each of them has 3 variants - no power levels as it used to be, so there are actually 1200 abilities planned ❤

      If furries are invaded only a few times per month, in the invasion days they will probably not bring their best gear. Of course, I don't know how easy will be to replace top gear here, but I was thinking about something like being able to invade HCE in Albion a few times per month. If we could do that, I very much doubt they'd bring their top gear. =))

      Furries won´t be evaded at all, demons will have such huge debuffs, that only masochist would do that ( why would they, during eclipses they can freele roam human world, so why rape carebears 😄 )

      What I don't understand is: if a new character can fight a seasoned character as equal, where is the progress / character development?

      New player can´t fight seasoned player ... it´s simply not possible - at least not until he gets more than starting 3 abilities (logically caster with 8 nukes is more powerfull than same caster with 3 nukes) and even then he will have not many chances against well built character.
      However even if both had same character with same abilities, talents and equipment, skill would still do a lot. Remember counter strike? I know, it´s fps, but even with same equip noob would get pwned by pro 10 out of 10 times. Also games like DOTA2, LOL and such games - no persistent world, your hero always starts from beginning, but try to play against seasoned veteran 😄

      Knowing game mechanics, knowing meta, best combos, complete knowledge of cooldowns of all skills - all makes huge difference even without much of char developement.

      @Znirf Thanks for reply. It does make sense, it´s just sad that primitive weapons will be useles after few days, no matter 🙂 Casters won´t need them anyway (stats on weapons will not affect casting in any way, right? Hope so ... for unarmed casters).

      @Jetah

      it's a lose-lose system for new players. that to me isn't really horizontal.

      Well, it´s classical mmo with classical "lvl 30 vs lvl 1" ... you should count with that 😄

      Bigger problem would be immunities ... which are present in game (Fire resist aura giving immunity to fire damage). Then even if it´s "lvl 30 vs lvl 30" fire specialised mage will have 0 chance to defeat the other one because of "I WIN" ability - THAT´S the problem 😛

    • RE: How will be decided which group takes a farming spot on Arboreus (animal planet)?

      @Razvan Wasn´t it stated, that Arboreus is world rich on resources and Tartaros has very few of them? Furries should have no problems and demons will probably rape each other...or one (the biggest) demon guild will absorb everyone as they will have no competition - making whole demon world one coordinated guild ... sounds terrifying 😄

    • RE: Primitive weapons

      @Jetah allright, but then what would change - it takes 2 hours to build a house, 1 hour to make primitive equipment ... if knowledge was persistent, this would only reset economy...which would start way faster, as everyone would know what to do and also would start "at max lvl". This would change things....for day or two 😄 Mmos like this probably should remain persistent imo.

    • RE: Enough attackers / defenders during eclipses

      @Razvan

      • yes, it is (nuker with 3 nukes < nuker with 8 nukes :D)
      • abilities don´t have 3 lvls, but 3 variants (that don´t differ in strenght but effect)
      • yes, yet we still don´t know what they offer ... but you´re right - its advantage over starting guys
      • point is such materials don´t necessarily need to be better but more customisable - you could fine tune your build to be more specialised, it would be nicer than just "same thing with higher numbers" ... would also be more "horizontal"

      *you forgot "god´s blessing" which starting characters probably won´t have as it takes some divine quest 😛

      Sure, it´s full loot, but then why would I walk around with weapons hitting like wet noodle If i knew I might be attacked, I would rather hold proper weapon 😛 ... not talking about fact killing monsters would take 20% longer.
      Difference of 20% damage is HUGE - it´s same as having 10% crit chance to 200% damage in game, where the only "crit stat" - PERCEPTION - gives you 0,5% chance per point - would you let it go? I wouldnt.

      This (hopefully) isn´t 24/7 grind/farm simulator like Albion (at least devs stated it). Equipment should be easily replacable.

    • RE: Primitive weapons

      @Jetah It would sure be nice, but not everyone knows about Fractured ---> huge amount of players would start playing when the game would be in later stages. Just make everything balanced the way weapon damage is - every weapon has same DPS, just different speeds so each of them has different playstyle. Therefore each tier of equipment should be endgame viable (of course with some kind of enchatmnet or something) or whole tier of weapons will disappear in few days.
