The second option is a "teleport to home" or "instant death", not so good as your suggestion, but easy to realise.
PS: right now you can also teleport with Relocate (if you have)

When you die what happens? Do you respawn somewhere?

atm you spawn on your house/plot or at the starting spawn if you haven't a plot

So do you always lose all your gear when you die? If so it's an easy way to get back home for a quick log out lol.
