Only info on this that I have come across so far is in the FAQ
10. When will Fractured be available to the public? Alpha testing for high-tier backers is set to begin in 2018. Once the start of our Kickstarter campaign approaches, we’ll release more precise estimates on the major milestones from Alpha 1 to final game release.

The mention that for high tier backers.... perhaps they will bring in some of the more devoted members of the community in before then shrugs

I doubt that there will be an alpha wave before the high tier backer wave.

There will be an alpha, we know that much. This was about whether or not there will be a test before the backer alpha.
