Creature changing 'leash back point' from world event to somewhere else

I had to withdraw from battle with an ogre warrior that had spawn near a chest in a world event, but the ogre didn't go back to the event, it started walking constantly south-west. I could still hit it, it wouldn't attack me and I followed it for a bit by horse:
