I my opinion it does not make sense earlier.

The naming system is "broken" at the moment.

This is a known issue that will be fixed in the future but not for the upcoming test.

This unique character name may not be for quite some time.

Considering everything is supposed to be wiped through alpha and I think even beta I'd expect not until the full release and that date isn't in stone.

Closer to the release of the full version of the game I would think. I would just stay posted in the forums and see if you get a response from any of them from Dynamight.
